    Default Excess Skin

Hi, I am considering surgery and have a consult next week. One of my current concerns is if of excess skin post weight loss. Is it an issue for you all? I imagine my weight loss would be in the 75lb -100lb area....thoughts? And Thank you!

I think about it a lot. But the truth is, I just need the weight gone. I don't care how much skin I have. I feel like I can cross that bridge when I come to it. I'm hoping to work out quite a bit mostly weights. I think when you do weights/toning it helps with excess skin. But like I said... I'm not even worrying about it anymore.

HI! Welcome. I am probably having my sleeve in April and I too am worried about excess skin. I am |hoping that it wont be too bad if i continue with swimming, playing tennis and having a personal trainer. I am also looking to see if there are any creams one can use to help avoid it. Good luck with your appointment.

I lost around 80 pounds and had a little over 7 inches removed via tummy tuck. Most ungodly painful surgery I have ever had including multiple breast reconstructions but worth it

Good luck to you guys having surgery soon. I don't think i will have too much loose skin but to be honest I think the health benefits of the surgery are worth it. Strength training will help a lot :-)

Worry about that when you get there. I lost 80 pounds and look fine in clothes. My tummy looks flat, even in a tight dress. I guess if I was younger and wanted to wear a bikini I'd have a tummy tuck, but I'm totally happy the way I am.

    Hi

For ,e it was a major issue, i knew from the start i would have several skin removal procedures. My sleeve was done on 9th June 2016 starting weight 213 lbs and was down to 130 lbs before the 6 month mark. I had a full lower body lift and brest lift december 14 2016. Than April 2017 i had brest implants as after my lift i was left with a small A cup. I am scheduled for an arm and thigh lift in August 2019. this is the one that scares me the most, hence why i have left it longer than the other surgeries. I wont lie, the full body lift was tough but i would do it all again with a second thought....so so worth it!!!!
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask anything else if i have left something out x

I'm 8 months out of surgery and down 129 pounds since Oct 2016. I'm a shorty and my but was so big it had it's own zip code! That being said I have a whole lot of extra skin on my butt and thighs. It is so gross but it is what happens when you get to a normal size. You can not tell when I'm wearing clothes. I've started strength training to help with toning. I wouldn't change a darn thing...excess skin and all! I needed to get my health back and I will worry about the skin secondary. It is worth it.

I'm on track for surgery Apr/May of this year as well. The excess skin along with the concern about regain were my two biggest concerns. I'm discovering though, that not everyone has excess skin....it really varies, just like how much and how fast you will lose weight. I'm already doing all I can to be ready to adjust to the changes ahead for me postoperatively and hope that the working out and strength training will help.

When I met with my Psychologist for surgery clearance (who was AMAZING, by the way) he told me there are a few great international destinations for body lifts; Rome, Vancouver BC, & Thailand. He personally knew someone who went to Thailand and reported that she had tummy, arms and thighs done and the cost for airfare + surgery + 1mo stay(hospital required it) was $5-6K vs the $10-17K you can expect to pay in The States. Something worth looking into.

The way I see it, I have been overweight all my life.....I want a change for my health and my future. My insurance will cover a good deal of my bariatric surgery...if in the future I need to do something about extra skin, I'll look into those options out there. At this point though, my primary concern is improving my health.

I wish you the best as you begin this process. I was scared, uncertain and worried for awhile....now that I know this is the right thing for me, I'm excited about how many things will be available to me when I get rid of this extra weight.....hiking, kyaking, playing with my friends kids without stopping to catch my breath, and the list keeps growing!!!!

I have lost 99 lbs and am 4'11". If you go to my page and look at my most recent blog I have pictures and you can see what I look like. I have very little excess skin. It is all about your habits. Good nutrition, cardio, strength training, vitamins, enough fluids, lotion. I am 44 so it is not like I am super young but not terribly old either.
