Default Hey there!! Who hates being the newbie?! lol

Hey Yall!! The name's Mandy! I'm starting this process again since I tried last year and my deductible was just way too much for us to afford. Now that it's a little better, I'm starting my intake again. I'm nervous, excited, still waiting for the other shoe to drop, I'm a negative nancy sometimes when it comes to happy things for myself. I battle anxiety and I'm hoping losing weight will help. I've spent my whole life fighting myself and my weight. I'm praying this tool will finally help me break through. I only have one super supportive person, my husband. Thank god for him. He just wants me to be happy and healthy... Here's to the future! Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Hey I'm a newbie too! I just jumped right in and started posting, learning stuff and asking questions. I'm very excited and going to Mexico in June. I've been on a weight loss journey for a long time and this decision to do WLS is hopefully what I need to continue the journey. Best wishes to you.

Same here. After multiple diets and having lost (and found!) the same weight multiple times, decided even if I had to pay out of pocket to pursue this option. Hard at times with the culture around dieting to get some to realize what a challenge weight loss really is, particularly the keeping it off part. I've done lots of research into this procedure and it seems to have the best track record overall at providing a reset opportunity. But dang if it isn't a bit scary! Glad to have a tribe here that's been down the path and knows what it's all like.

Guess I'll jump in here as a newbie too I have insurance so I just have to pay my deductible. I don't have a date yet, but I think it's possibly happening in May as I was told it's a 4 month process and I started in December. I have a lot of fears, but I'm also tired of the yo yoing and hope that this tool will get me healthy

EVERYBODY is a newbie at first! Welcome! I have just been here since October. I am an insurance person as well, and after being thrown off track a bit with paperwork, I am back on finishing up my 6 months of nutrition classes requirement. I should be set for surgery in April. Everybody here is great, a wealth of knowledge and very supportive

I am a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist but I have never practiced in the areas of bariatrics or weight loss. I am happy to offer ideas or tips, but please follow your own Nutritionist's advice - she is the expert in the area.

That's great simplyseahorse!!! Thanks for the welcomeS YA'LL! I'm soooooooo excited. Just ready to progress and move FORWARD. My only requirements were to have 5 years worth of high BMI, and the psych eval was to be repeated. We shall see what they say about my 5 year history. The year 2013 my BMI was only 38.75 and they wanted it at 40. I swear if they deny me for that I will just lose it lol. My repeat intake appt is 02/15/18!!!!!! Let's do this!!!!

What I hate about being a newbie is that the end result seems so far away. I know that that is not true, because at my age, time seems to be careening along at breakneck speed. Also, with my first appointment with the surgeon being tomorrow, there is so much that I don't know about the process. I'm not a patient person, and I just want to get on with a better life.

Welcome! I'm a newbie as well. I have noticed that just starting this process has reduced my anxiety which I have battled all my life. It's a goal to work toward and it gives me a sense of control and hope. Keep us updated on your journey!
