Default Surgery was 12/5/17 and I'm at a stand still.

Right after I had my surgery, I had tons of energy and was losing weight quickly. Within the past couple of weeks I've become very lightheaded and low energy (I even passed out once). Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I had my surgery dec 18 and I was loosing quickly and had a lot of energy. I started stalling about a week ago and my energy has been lacking to. I have started to increase my calories and having more soft foods but that seems to be making me feel crappy. I am not sure what is going on either but wanted to let you know your not alone feeling this way.

Are you both making your protein (60g+) and water (64oz) goals? Without those you will feel like crap. Those are really the baseline. And be sure you're also getting all your vitamins.

Thanks for the response! I'm trying to get in enough protein and water but it's difficult (as I'm sure you know). I am taking my vitamins though.

I'm sorry you're having the same problems but it's nice to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I'm not sure if it's normal or not but it's certainly frustrating! Makes it difficult getting in enough exercise too!

I am getting all my vitamins and protein. I was getting all my water now I am just reaching it I have definally found it harder since changing to soft foods. I still have one protein shake a day.

I agree it has been making exercise harder I actually had a nap today first time since my second week post op.

We sound much alike! I've been periodically napping lately also. Just feel very lethargic.

We really do sound alike and it’s nice to know it’s not just me. I am returning to work on Monday and I am worried cause of the fatigue I might not make it all day. I also find I am mentally struggling some now very overwhelmed with everything and the changes I am making. I am very happy about all the changes but getting use to a new norm is hard.

Luckily (or unluckily) I just got laid off so I'm off work right now or I would be in the same boat as you. I do, eventually, need to find another job though and that along with all the other "changes" seems daunting. Hard to make sure I've gotten all my proteins, water, vitamins in everyday.

Hi, I had difficulty as well. Talked to the doc and he did not understand. I really began to watch what I was eating an tracking the times I was not feeling well and lightheaded. As it turns out it was every time I had dairy. Can't eat yogurt or cream or string cheese or make a protein shake with milk. When I did I felt as i I was going to pass out had to put my head down. I am just beginning to be able to have a small amount of milk (The Fairlife seems not to bother me) and a bit of cheddar form time to time.

You will be tired for 6 to 8 weeks.

    Wishing you both healing blessings!

    A

I go back to a busy desk job 2 week post op and am worried when I will find the time to get my protein and water in. The good news is I'm a big coffee drinker when at work and I would sip for most of the day - thinking if I can just convert that to my protein drinks?! Water on the other hand will be more of a challenge as I have never been a great water drinker....

Thanks Alynn, I sometimes forget that it was actually surgery and will cause some issues since I felt so great right afterwards.

Aussie Girl, have you tried Crystal Light? It helps me with getting more water down.

Your words are so true, I am doing the same forgetting I had surgery and I am realizing I been pushing my stomach/body to much cause I felt good. Now I am not feeling so great and have to be reminded I did have major surgery.

Oh yes! I became lactose intolerant after surgery which is apparently fairly common so that could be the problem. Also, Fairlife milk is not only high in protein but it is lactose free so I use that quite often, especially with protein powder to make a super high protein shake. Would never make my protein goal without that.

Definitely make sure you are hitting your protein and fluid goals. Are you taking vitamins? In the beginning the vitamins are especially important because we are not getting enough from our food intake.
