    Default Keto diet.

    Hi all,
So I keep hearing people talk about the Keto diet. Can anyone tell me more? What all can you eat, and what is fully eliminated from your diet? Can you recommend any websites or books to help one get started?
Is this a safe approach for Gastric Sleeve patients? I've heard a lot of WLS/sleeve people say that they love it! From what I have been abotu to find out about it, it's high fat/high carb and pretty low protein... So with that in mind, it makes me think it's not a good approach for Sleeve patients who are supposed to get 60-90 grams of protein a day.
Thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated!
    Dee

Keto is high healthy fat (avocados, eggs, etc), moderate protein and low to no carb. The only carbs you should get on Keto are from green veggies. The only fruit on keto is berries in moderation. Keto is about eating real food all the time. The goal in Keto is protein. Fat is a limit. The keo diet is very similar to the post op for gastric surgeries except they wouldn't ever eat carbs outside of what would be found in veggies. Hope this helps.

Exactly!! You are really already doing a lax version of keto if you are sticking to the WLS diet. I love it and it's gotten me out of plenty stalls.

After regaining my weight lost from wls, I started the Optavia eating plan. Following it puts you in ketosis but your calorie goals are 40% carb, 40% protein and 20% fat which is much different than the keto diet most people hear about. I love it and have lost 50 pounds in 5 months. PM me if you are interested in finding out more.

Keto is a version of low carb that focuses on clean eating. It is completely safe for a sleeved person. If it is something you can follow, I would recommend it. I run a lot so I needs carbs.
