    Default When to add vegetables

I am a little past one month post op and really haven't had room to add any veggies and still get in enough protein. Of course in soups I've made I throw in carrots and onions but as far as green veggies nothing yet. Is this just part of the process? It just feels pretty weird to not eat any. I am on soft foods now. When did you all get veggies and I am shocking myself for asking but what about salads. I am dying for some lettuce or cucumber anything with a crunch.

    Hi Lca!

I'm 3 months out and am only now able to include literally one bite of veggies with my lunch or dinner. I miss them as well, never thought I'd say that I miss vegetables, but I do.

It was only this week that I was able to include a little spinach, dark green leafs, or one small piece of broccoli to my shredded chicken. Have been able to eat a couple small baby carrots with hummus as a snack as well.

I haven't had a salad as of yet, but I'm hoping soon!
Everyone is different, but I would definitely wait until you're cleared for solid foods. Even then, you'll just have to test it out and see how it works with your stomach.

    Good luck!

LCA! I get all my protein from plant sources! And soft foods you can certainly eat beans and cooked spinach. Cucumbers also shouldn't be an issue 1 month post op. For the first month I juiced all my veggies and fruits and made Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (Joe Cross reboot recipes) drinks every day. This packs all your veggies into liquid drinks and they are VERY satisfying! Be healthy! XOXO

What is fat stick and Nearly Dead?

I am 2 weeks out and all my soups have some veggies in them - cauliflower, brocolli, greens, carrots etc. I just blend them and if there is not enough protein (I try to do a chicken base) then I add a scoop of protein powder. It has been working really well for me.

I know! I miss Arugula more than I ever imagined I would. But I do realize that my new tummy is pretty sensitive so I'm trying to add cooked vegetables and not too many raw yet. Almost every week I cook up some lentils, saute onions, garlic, chopped carrots & curry then simmer them all in some tomato sauce. I then use that to add taste to chicken or fish. I get some vegetables and protein from the lentils. I also have started adding chopped artichoke hearts, kalamata olives & feta to my egg white scramble. (Artichokes are supposed to be good for liver & gall bladder function and I'm hoping to hold on to my gb.) Also use some of those little guacamole cups (100 cal) with the egg whites or chicken.

I added soft veggies early, at about 1 month post op. I needed the roughage! It definitely helped with my constipation issues. If you are cleared for soft foods then steam some veggies until they are super soft and enjoy! Veggies also contain protein which will help in your daily protein goals.

    I really enjoyed:

    Beans
    Broccoli
    Cauliflower

I steamed the broccoli and cauliflower until it was super soft. No issues eating them.

Veggies are a normal part of my diet now.

In the beginning it is hard to get your veggies in after you get your protein. Eventually it will get easier but that is why it is so important to take your vitamins since you are not getting all the vitamins from foods.
