    Default Snacks

Just wondering what everyone is having for snacks. I've been having cottage cheese, cheese strings, watermelon, bananas, and I'm getting kind of tired of these foods lol. Any suggestions would be awesome!

I make these energy balls they are great!!! will post the recipe below. i also eat saltine's and peanut butter, Oikos triple zero yogurt, protein shake.

    Energy Ball
    1 Cup (dry) oatmeal
    2/3 cup coconut flakes
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
    1/3 cup honey
    1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all together and let sit in the fridge for about 1/2 hour. Then roll into small balls about 1 inch in size. Store in fridge in air tight container or they tend to dry out. Soooo good i usually only eat 1 for morning snack and 1 for later

I'm often on the go for snack time so I like turkey jerky or Lorissa's Kitchen Korean BBQ beef strips. Keep protein bars in my bag, too, but try to limit those & use them just in emergencies. Have tried almonds but they go down too quickly so I've had to cut myself off.

Handful of Smart Popcorn works for me, string cheese works. Small glass of non-fat chocolate milk also not a bad option!

The popcorn doesn't hurt my tummy - but after a few bites I get a cue that I have had enough and stop - IMAGINE THAT! I like having popcorn at the movies and even if am with someone and even if I buy the smallest size they have, I still find myself bringing home about 3/4 of it. If I eat too much of it by post surgery standards I feel similar to the way I used to feel when I ate the whole box or bag - full and gross. Now I just feel full after a couple of bites I realize I have to stop. I can't tell you if it hurts if you go to far, because you really won't want to go too far.

I am sure it depends how long you are from surgery. It isn't a snack you would eat early on! I am over 4 years since surgery, so no, it doesn't hurt anything for me. Sadly there is nothing I can't eat. (I was sort of hoping junk would make me sick.)

I have a Dannon LIght and Fit Vanilla Greek yogurt for a snack and add in 1 TBS of PB fit (powder peanut butter powder), and I make these awesome tasting Fat Bombs (chocolate and peanut butter - again, with PB fit) but my FAVORITE is a small banana sliced up with 2 TBS of PB fit on the side. I try not to eat that TOO often because bananas have a lot of sugar AND carbs. If my surgeon (who I do not see anymore) heard this, he'd have a fit. "NO snacks. Ever." Pffft.

I hear you! I've been mostly eating low fat dairy products because they are higher protein than most snacks - ie, cottage cheese, high protein yogurts, string cheese....

I recently started eating a couple of raw veggies (baby carrots, snap pea pods) with hummus. Bariatric eating website has "protein crunchers" that I eat every time I get a craving for chips. They have these little bags - and the snack is like Chex cereal but made with whey protein isolate and flavored with different powders so they have a good amount of protein in them . My favorite is the grilled cheese flavor.

Sometimes I'll just have a couple of teaspoons of plain peanut butter as well.

I'm vegan so I usually eat hummus on lettuce leaves or on pretzels, I LOVE PB on celery sticks, sugar snap peas raw out of the bag make for a great late night munchie food! I do love popcorn, as long as it's air popped with nothing on it but a little salt. I will eat a tomato like an apple over the sink LOL I eat pickles in front of the fridge which feels like being naughty! I also enjoy a few Orieda french fries dipped in franks red hot when i'm feeling like being really bad!
