Default getting sleeved on 1/22/18; grinding through pre-op shake diet

Hi! I'm new here and five days into my 13 day shake + 1 day liquids diet and boy it's been tough. I cheated with triscuits two nights ago (at least they are whole wheat, I said to myself as i scarfed down the crunchy goodness).

I am spacing my Bariatric Advantage shakes 3.5 hours apart but the last 1.5 hours of those gaps are not fun. I fall asleep at my desk at work. The early afternoon is the absolute worst.

I've lost ten pounds in 4 days which is a little scary. I wonder if I am dehydrated despite drinking at least 64 oz. water a day.

Thanks for listening! I'm glad to have found this community.

Hallo! Yup the pre op diet is tough but so much easier after surgery. I had big headaches on day 3 of pre op but upped my water. I was also really tired which lasted for 6 weeks after surgery, all good now though. Its a good excuse for naps!! Best of luck to you, such a great decision to have the surgery :-)

I found the pre-op diet to be the hardest part of the process. Hang in there.

My nutritionist said I could add a few half cups of veggies and fruits when i mentioned the desk passouts to her. That definitely helped me get through the shake diet.

Then... things took a turn last weekend. I had a slight cough which turned into the worst sore throat I've ever had, trouble swallowing, and a fever by surgery day morning. The procedure was canceled, of course, and now I'm rescheduled for the 12th of February.

Thankfully I don't have to restart the shake diet; they told me 'don't overdo it' and stay on the low carb high protein side of things and do clear liquids two days before. I'm still taking a shake or two for lunch because it's easy and helps me avoid the temptation of the breakfast food cafe downstairs.

My throat's slowly healing and I'm back at work right now and already getting compliments. No more desk naps, either! I was really upset about missing my original date but my job, doctor, and hospital have all been helpful. Thanks for the welcomes and words of encouragement.

Ugh set backs can be really disappointing! I was scheduled back in Oct 2017 but got bloods clots due to hip surgery one week before my scheduled sleeve. I wasn't able to reschedule again until late Jan 2018. I ended up putting some of my pre-op weight back on and had to really focus to lose it the second time around.

The good news t that I realised I wasn't as prepared for the surgery the first time, both mind and diet. The delay caused my to find this site and really get my head in the game!

I actually eat a small meat and vege dinner at night but limited my intake during the day to protein bars during pre-op - that worked for me and I still lost weight pre-op (22 lbs in total over both pre-op's). Plus my surgeon was happy with my liver (during op)!!

Don't worry it will go fast. All the best.
