Default The Best Part of Waking Up....

is a vanilla Premier Protein shake as my coffee creamer! OMG, tastes like a $5.00 Starbucks latte. But here's my question. I've heard that heat can kill off the protein. Do you think my coffee is too hot to get the protein benefits of the shake?

I thought that was only with cooking and baking.
By the time your coffee hits the cup it is approx. 80 degrees Celcius (I learned that at a WW meeting!), so I don't think that will have an influence.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

My thought is since they sell protein creamers all over, it must not be too hot. And I think if you waited till your coffee was close to drinkable temp, it would be fine. I'll have to try it!

Protein has to be brought to a pretty high temperature before it starts to be broken down - I mean imagine if we didn't get any benefit of protein from grilled or baked fish or chicken! I can try to research it, but I think that it's fine. And that gives me an idea to try, so thanks! Yep the caramel sounds good too!

..............found the answer on their website:
Can Premier ProteinŽ Shakes be heated? Does heat break down the protein if you add some shake to flavor coffee?
Premier ProteinŽ Shakes can be heated - it will not break down the protein in our formula. However, boiling the formula is not recommended. In addition, the tetra shake container should not be put in the microwave.

It was on sale at Costco this morning, so I m going to try it in my coffee, which backs up breakfast time to eat, since I like it prior to eating! Sraebaer, do you put stevia or anything else in it?

The Premier Protein shakes are $5 off a maximum of 2 boxes for the month of January at Costco. I just got 2 and will have to go back for more, as I drink one a day. First it goes in my coffee, then I have the rest for a snack later in the day. They even have banana flavor, but I haven't been brave enough to try that one yet. I will have to try Carmel.

No, the shake adds sweetness without anything else. So yummy.

I do this, too. My stomach is still easily upset by coffee (but I need it) and adding the Premier Protein really helps and, yes, tastes great. Plus it gives me the extra protein I need.
