Default 3weeks post op not feeling restriction

    Hi all
I am 3 weeks post op and on puréed I seem to be able to eat more than the quarter cup Drs office allows. Per meal. I guess I'm wondering if others didn't feel a real restriction either. I keep reading how hard it is for others to eat 3 baby spoonfuls I really don't have any trouble getting down an 11 oz premire protien in 15 minutes. Don't get me wrong I'm not feeling hunger after probably 1/2 cup puréed food. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I am really sticking to drs program. Weight is down just 12 lbs since surgery. Should I worry????

You won't feel real restriction until you start real food, like meat. (At least I didn't.) You are not doing anything wrong!

The first time I tried chicken I thought I might die. OMG it was horrible! That was the moment I knew my stomach was small.

I felt restriction even with the full liquids diet. But everyone is different.

I'm 2.5 months out and still can only eat 2 tablespoons of food in an hour. My friend got surgery around the same time, and she never felt restriction with hers. She can eat about 2 cups of food at a time at 3 months out. I think it just depends. I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you're not having pain you're in good shape!

I had the same concern but as others have said, once you get to "real food" it changes. Also, you start to get in touch with the signals that tell you another bite will be over the top. I start to hiccup.

    Really?
    Two cups?
I am one year out and I can barely manage one cup...
    This gets mé worried...

Dutch, I think she's a major outlier. I don't know what happened with hers.
I do know at the beginning she ate until she was sick quite a bit. I don't know if it's possible to stretch it out that early?

It's definitely not normal though. From what I hear, at about a year people can eat a cup or close to it. So you're right on track. My friend's experience is definitely not normal.

    Thank you Amanda!
    This is my insecurity talking.
I am sometimes still afraid that I am not meeting the requirements.
But we are all different and probably all take our own time.

I think two cups three months out is a reason to pay a visit to the surgeon to test the size of the sleeve.

    Lcajnike,
I'm in the same boat as you! I haven't felt restriction at all, or even GERD, indigestion with anything I"ve eaten. And I've only lost 12 lbs since surgery. Thanks everything for the responses, makes me relieved!

I've been wondering the same things about restriction. Seemed like from day 1, I had no problems whatsoever getting stuff in. I'm 8 days out and I feel no restriction at all. I'm doing my very best to stick to the liquids only diet until day 21 but I feel like I'm still so hungry. Of course, I'm not drinking the water I'm supposed to so maybe it's that. Just taking it one day at a time. Still, when I think about it, hard to believe 8 days have already gone by. If you're 3 weeks out, you should be able to do all soft foods now. I would stick to those soft foods that are protein based. You can have cottage cheese and eggs, and soft moist fish...these things may help get the fullness/satisfied feeling you're looking for. Good luck

Do not worry about it. As long as you are losing, nothing to worry about. As stated by others you will probably feel the restriction when you are on solids. Just keep following the rules.

What’s funny is I’m not having trouble keeping any thing down. But I’ve dropped 25lbs since surgery. And I’m 8 days out. I’m starting to wonder if they actually did anything. Lol. Jk. I’m sure it will hit once I move on to solid foods
