Default 3 month post surgery update.

I had my sleeve done on October 2, 2017. I met with my surgeon, nutritionist and shrink today. All 3 are happy with my progress. The doctor stated I was a couple months ahead of where he thought I would be. The nutritionist gave me some suggestion on how to eliminate all the supplements I take on a daily basis. She suggested the Pro Care Health Bariatric Vitamins in capsule or chewable. I can take these and only add my calcium and gall bladder pill. I only need to take the gall bladder meds for 2 more months anyway.

Pros: I feel great. I walk everyday and do weight training 3 times per week. I started with a personal trainer at 8 weeks. We started slow but now he is picking up the pace and intensity. I can feel muscle tone and strength returning. I dropped several pants sizes and dropped from an XXL shirt to an XL and even have some jacket/ pullovers in large. Found a great golf sale and bought 6 new golf shirts in XL.

Cons: The dreaded constipation is still an issue so I am upping my fluid intake and fiber content. I still have an issue of eating too fast and am working to slow that down. During the holidays I ate whatever I wanted but in a greatly reduced quantity. Went out to dinner a couple times at a nice place and had no issues. I ordered an appetizer and veggie and was satisfied. Another restaurant I ordered from there small portion menu. Had a few holiday scotches and glasses of wine and no apparent problem. Really had no desire to have an extra drink or glass of wine.

The numbers: I am a male age 65 and 6'0" tall with an athletic build.

I am very happy with my weight loss and look forward to the challenging months ahead. I hope for 8-10 per month for the nest 3 months. With the walking and weight training I'm confident I will do it.

Like most of us, I wish I did it sooner.

Sounds like you are doing great ! Were you always into exercise? I am a bit worried about exercise ... I have arthritis in my knees and back..hopefully once I start losing the weight I will be able to move better.

    CyndiJ,
Don't worry about the exercise. Just walking would be great for you. I was always an athlete and off an on was active. I have arthritis in my knee and back and losing weight really helps with the pain. I feel any kind of exercise no matter how basic or low impact is a multiplier for your weight loss. Best of luck on your weight loss journey.
