My surgeon did not clear any patients to lift weights or engage in any type of resistance training until 6 weeks post-op because the stomach is still healing.

What's a good workout? I'd recommend keeping it simple with Strong Lifts: https://stronglifts.com/

Many women shy away from free weights and make a bee line for the machines, but I'm a petite woman who boosted my metabolic rate with all the muscle mass I gained.

The surgeon told me 6 weeks, I joined a gym and went twice - I nearly fell asleep on the drive home I was so physically exhausted!

I started going again around week 30.

As I can eat more now my energy levels are fine, just give your body time to recover, it’s a new way of life!

Depends on what you are used to! If you exercised before surgery, it will be easy to get into again. (I was always a walker, even fat.)

If you are brand new to exercise, start slow. If you've never walked, and go out for a 3 mile walk, you'll end up quite sore. So I would recommend "baby steps," take it slow and work up distance over time. I personally think walking is the perfect exercise to begin with.

As far as weights, ask your surgeon. I was cleared for all exercise at 2 weeks, but everyone hears different stuff. Mine said I could even start sit ups. (I didn't!)

Good luck! Glad to hear you're feeling better.

I think It's essential to remember that every individual's journey is unique, and it's crucial to follow your doctor's advice and guidelines specific to your situation. After gastric sleeve surgery, the body goes through significant changes, and it's essential to give yourself time to heal properly. Initially, the focus should be on gentle movements and light exercises to avoid putting too much strain on the body. Low-impact exercises, such as walking or swimming, can be great options to start with as they put less stress on the body. But for me, I continued my glute exercises with weights after 4 weeks although I didn't push myself too hard.
