    Default Taste changes

Almost of us have expierenced in this, in some form.
Some don't like sweet anymore, some don't like salt, some can't eat some things at all.
I used to love eggs, now I don't anymore.
    Isn't that strange?
I did some reseach, but I can't find much as to the "why".
    Why the changes?
    What happens?
This phenomenon seems to happen with all forms of wls.
I noticed that some people here do a lot of studying, has anyone done some reseach about this?
Can somebody give me a link?
I would like to learn more about this.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Early on some things agree with you and some things don't, but I think that will change. I bet you will like eggs again sometime in the future! So I'm not sure if it's your taste that changes, or just your tummy getting used to different foods at different times. It took me ages to be able to eat chicken, and now I love it.

For me my tastes never changed, but I did develop a love for healthy food! I was fat because I didn't eat hardly any protein and loved anything carb. Back then if you had told me I could never eat meat or fish the rest of my life I would have said, "Fine!" Now my protein is always first, with fish my favorite.

Three grandkids are visiting, and the 7-year-old ate more salmon than any of the adults last night!

What sraebaer said -- whatever changes you're experiencing now will change again. And again.

One of the things that many newbies believe is that their early post-op responses to food are permanent.

Everything you experience post-op ain't permanent. That's why you HAVE to build a healthy lifestyle and some eating discipline during the weight loss phases. Later on, during your maintenance phase(s), you'll have to rely on those lifestyle changes to maintain your weight loss and go on to become fitter and healthier than you've ever been before. Isn't that why we all had WLS?

Best wishes to everyone out there!

I couldn't stand sweet initially but now I like it again. I know that everyone's taste buds change about every 7 years. I know that has nothing to do with WLS. I also know some people can't eat things post op that they could pre op. Sometimes they try it and get sick so then it becomes psychological. I know that happened with my dad after his bypass. Meat would make him sick so he stopped eating it altogether. He was a vegetarian for almost 20 years due to it until his doctor told him he needed to start eating meat again because he was not eating enough protein. He know eats it like he never stopped. I know that was weird for me when he started eating it again after 20 years. So...I just ranted on but no...I do not have a link. LOL.

My taste for so many things have changed and it baffles me as well.
Used to hate any hard cheese now I love it.
Coffee had to be strong, now has to be weak.
Could drink 2 litres of milk a day, easy. Now gag at the smell of it.
Only ate dark chocolate, can't stand it anymore.
Liked lamb as meat, now eat mainly pork and don't touch lamb at all. The list goes on. So yes I agree with you as none of my changes have gone back to the way I was, I can't even take milk in my coffee I have to use coffee mate
