Default So close, yet so far away!

Had my third appointment with Intergrative Health and the weight loss has been slow. 6 pounds is all and they had a goal of 12-14. 5% of my body weight. Sitting I don't metabolize like everyone else and on a pretty much NO exercise restriction because of my back and shoulders the weight even being good eating wise just won't come off. So frustrating. My health coach bumped me down to 1100 calories a day and see if that will help.

My back and shoulders are getting better. Pain is minimal and haven't taking any hydrocodone in over a week. I'm schedule out with PT through the end of January. Health Coach is ready to talk to my doc, dietitian is going to hold off until I have lab work when they flush my port on January 16th. That's a month away!! If all goes well with that they will have the big meeting and hopefully let me know on a surgery date. Iron I am guessing is still on the low side, but she did let me know about Celebrate vitamins and she said there is a multivitamin with extra iron and I am supposed to get that one after surgery. Anyone else take Celebrate? The price wasn't too bad on Amazon.

Health Coach mentioned possibly going on the Ideal Protein liquid diet if my liver isn't small enough for surgery. This is all up to my surgeon. I'm going to be good and hopefully some of this weight comes off. Lots of protein and veggies.

Probably looking at the end of January or sometime in February. Hope it flies by!

I was on a pre op of 2 shakes a day and a small meal of lean meat and veggies. If I was still hungry I could have broth, sugar free popsicles and jello, and any non calorie drinks. Don't know if that will help you or not.

The only good thing about self-pay is I just scheduled my surgery, and really quick. No one made me lose weight in order to qualify. I don't even understand why people would need to lose weight before surgery, as that's what happens after surgery. I did a pre-op diet for 5 days.

Good luck to you! January or February is really close!

I take the celebrate vitamins - I went ahead and bought them and started on them after my classes. I take 2 of the multi vitamin chews with iron, one in the morning and one at night, and then I take the calcium chewables as well, one at around lunch time and then another when I get home from work. That gets me all of the vitamin supplements that they recommend.

Oh I meant to put that - haha - I don't have any problems with them at all. They are a little but chalky, but less so than a tums. They remind me of a berry tums really. I like the multi chewable better than the calcium one.

Hi!! Had my lab work Monday and the good news is my vitamin D is in the normal range and my iron went up. Not normal, but up so that's a positive sign. Emailed my surgeon's nurse because well I am getting impatient. She said integrative health still had me at losing more weight and lab work. So I emailed them after work because my health coach said she would see me after surgery and my nutritionist said she would know more after lab work. I'm just eager to get a surgery date or know what MY next steps are. I don't have any appointments scheduled with them. The waiting game is tough especially when you are ready.

I did get a motor for my chair so I started working out around the 1st of the year. I don't use the motor that much, but really love it on the really cold days or if I have to park far away. I did re-tweak my bad shoulder working out so my PT made some adjustments to my workout at home and the gym. My arm flab is the part of the body that needs the most work so working on triceps exercises. My goal is to wear a tank top by itself someday.

It's weird - my guy friends don't think I need the surgery, but most everyone else have been super supportive. And one of my best friends has a consult in February.

    Hope everyone is well!!

I did find an unflavoried protein powder that I tolerate pretty well. No tummy aches and best of it with a frozen banana and some cocoa powder or fruit it's like ice cream. Like look forward to it in the morning. Never thought I would see the day. :-)

I understand your frustration because I was ready to go with my requirements and had to wait for office staff to submit my insurance paperwork....and I got approved the week before Christmas, but my surgeon was booked for the remainder of the year. I had to change insurance plans at the start of the year because our company changed carriers, so now I find out that I need an additional 3 months' worth of nutrition classes. I thought I was going to have surgery before the end of the year, and now it is April. It has been very disappointing, but I am hanging in there. I will get there, and you will too. But DO stay on them about it!

I did self pay as well, and had 2 weeks from first appointment to surgery, and did do the 2 week preop since I had liver problems. But despite the expense, it certainly made it easier in some ways.

It's still a tough row on the pre op because you are still hungry. Post op, although challenging in changing our habits & routines, is easier, IMHO.

I heard from my nutionists nurse - she wants me to lose more weight and get closer to that 12 lb loss. And up my iron to three times a day. And see her one more time before surgery and get weighed. I weigh at home because neither my surgeon or my IH team has a scale that is wheelchair accessible. Been drinking one soda mainly for the caffiene, but strictly water until this weight comes off.

It's some clarification - not what I wanted, but clarification. Work out and eat low cal, high protein. Wish me luck.

Turned down a night of drinking and a party bus to come home and work out and drink water. Also drank water at the dinner get together. Tried my friends chislic with ranch and the ranch was fabulous. Asked for some to go. Lunch meat and cheese next week to keep me low carb and hope the pounds come off. The boys offered to carry my big butt on. They were all sober...it’s the end of the night I worry about when everyone is hammered. I don’t want to fall. Now to work out!
