So every December our monthly support group turns into a Christmas party! The surgeon speaks, and a lot of people share their stories. There wasn't a dry eye in the house, like the very young woman who had already had a heart attack, and was told lose weight or die. She had the sleeve and shared her story.
Then they showed a power point of people's before and after pictures. So motivational! The best picture was a man who stood in one of his pants legs with his wife in the other. Of course my photos were all on the top of mountains.
The food was all bariatric friendly: fruits, veggies, olives, and cheeses. A party with no crap, what an idea. They had games, raffles, and prizes.
I was probably one of the early people having surgery with this group over 4 years ago when it was just a nurse, psychiatrist, nutritionist, and surgeon. Now it has grown into about 4 times the staff.
If you have a support group to attend, I highly recommend it. It is so much fun! Something else to keep me accountable.
