    Default Pre op full liquid

I have to do a week pre op full liquid diet. I am getting my protein and liquids I need but I feel so sick and nauseous it’s been a real struggle and it’s only day 3. Does this mean I am going to have issues after surgery cause my dr recommens 4 weeks of full liquid after surgery then soft foods.

I struggled with the pre-op diet but I found the shakes were so sweet and not very satisfying. (I tried different brands and did better with some.) Post-op everything is different. You don't have much of an appetite and will be drinking very slowly. I found some high protein soups were better for me. (Bariatric Advantage brand, found on Amazon.) You might also try some lactose free shakes. I found I was more sensitive and now am lactose-intolerant (which is common after surgery).

    Don't worry.

I think that might be some of my problem I am drinking the drinks to fast just to get it done with lol. I am going to take a look at the soups. I normally love cream of chicken soup or chicken broth but everything is just gross tasting lol.

Oh it's hard pre op Jen. After surgery I was soon sick of protein shakes but everyone feels the same in those 2 weeks. be sure to get some zophran or something anti nausea to come home with. I still have nausea on and off now but it is really manageable. It won't be forever.

No not necessarily. What shakes are you drinking? I can tell you that for me personally, if the protein count was too high then it would make me feel ill. I did better with shakes that were about 15-17g of protein per serving. A lot of people will drink ones with 25-30g of protein in them. But those did not work for me. Something to consider. Maybe you have the same issue I did? Also, I got thrush when I was on full liquids. Had to get a swish from my doctor after about a week post op when I realized what it was.
