    Default NSVs :-) and bloods

    Hallo,
I had some bloods done yesterday just out of curiosity. I was a bit worried about my iron as I've had some hormonal shamoz going on and was feeling so tired, I've also always had super high cholesterol and was considering going on statins if nothing changed.
Check this out for an nsv.....
BEFORE SURGERY 5 WEEKS POST OP
    IRON 9 IRON 14
    FERRATIN 12 FERRATIN 80
Thank gawd for iron infusions and good vitamins :-) These numbers are ace!

BEFORE SURGERY 5 WEEKS POST OP
    CHOLESTEROL 8.2 CHOLESTEROL 5.4
All the tris etc and other numbers now in normal range and I just want to get the cholesterol under 4.5 as that pleases most cardiologists!

This cholesterol result is dramatic. It is like being on statins or something!!! Such a great result as i was worried it was just genetic but Nahhhhhhhhh! Hurrah!

The iron and ferratin is great so I think the tiredness is just simply post surgery and low calories. I'm working hard to get my calories up AS i want to run again!!! At the moment I feel like I would fall over! I have had a lot of impatience over the tiredness! I'm up to about 700 on calories so I'm going to have a good think about how to get them up to 800. It's all i can think of for being so tired! What do you reckon??
    Anyway I am totally thrilled!!!!!!!

Go you! I won't so lucky, my cholesterol came back with a vengeance. (Tried three months after surgery with no meds). I blame my dad. He had 4 brothers who died in their 20's, 30's, 40's,and 50's respectively, with my dad living the longest, to a ripe old age of 62. (I am almost 61.) All heart disease. Dad had bypass surgery 3 times (about 8 years apart) along with a lower aorta transplant. And he walked 3 miles a day the last 30 years of his life, weighed about 145, and ate a totally healthy diet. Did everything right. Genetics. Darn genetics.

Yes i did wonder if I would be the same sraebaur. if it's genetic thereisn't much you can do apart from the statins, but that is a silver lining I suppose. I'm going to have them done again towards the end of january with my surgeon so I will see how much it has changed then. Were you still tired at 5 weeks sraebaur? I know i seem obsessed with it but I'm like gahhhhh, some days I feel much more energy but then I have a few days of blahhhh. Maybe it's just post surgery stuff and i need to just go with the flow, I am doing that generally and then having the odd complain about it!!!

    Wow that's great!

I'm still confused about the calories too. I guess it's trial & error & we're our own guinea pigs.

Yeah, genetics plays a HUGE role with cholesterol. I had a friend who was tall and very thin. She was a very active runner and she had high cholesterol. It was genetic and all she could do was take meds. Her lifestyle was healthy and she could not afford to lose any more weight.
