Hi My name is Cyndie H. I am in the process of the requirements from my insurance, which takes 6 months which is so hard to do because I really want this surgery NOW... but oh well I guess step by step I will succeed this time.
I felt exactly the same way...and now I actually wish I'd spent that time preparing more. It's so important to start practicing good habits, like eating more slowly.
BTW, if you have been involved in a regular weight loss program (like Weight Watchers or others that make you check in) many insurance programs will accept that retroactively. I did that and cut down on a couple of months.
Best of luck!
Trust us ... we understand!

Paying for the surgery on your own because your insurance won't cover it is much more frustrating. Be thankful you have insurance!
Hang in there it is a process.. I went to a open meeting in January .. started my program in march and had surgery in OCT , could been SEPT but I got cold feet. Well worth the process my surgery bill came in at almost exactly 40 grand ( I had zero complications) Luckily my insurance picked up 39 grand of it and left me with a manageable bill so just wait it will happen for you I had a rough first month but since that March start pre and post surgery I have lost 50 pounds . I am kindof standing still right now so I know I need to do more activity and watch foods but life for sure gets better!!
I know - it IS frustrating - I am in the same holding pattern - but it will be here soon enough. I am trying to use the time like others suggested in getting to know some of the people here who I feel will be good references for me, and learning what I can about what to expect. My program is great in that I have a whole book of resources that they put together for each of us - but it takes time to really go over all of it. I have already gotten and started the vitamins, and now I am eating without drinking at meals - trying to incorporate things in small steps to work up to the pre and post op diet days. Glad you are here!
Hi Cyndie!! Welcome! I had to go through the insurance hoops. At the end of the day....it was worth the long 6 month process but I totally get it! Fingers crossed for you. Take this time to read as much as you can and become really well informed on all things sleeve.
Well I finally have a date July 14th!!! It was supposed to be on June 2nd but there was something wrong with the ins auth so we had to cancel. But I have been assured that July 14th will be the day. Thought it was kind of odd being a saturday. But I was told that I had to be his only patient that day due to having a issue with my hernia and when my lap band was removed in 2015, the dr that removed it just cut it out but he didn't undo any of the stitching on my stomach, so my dr told me that my surgery will be about a 3 hour thing at least. So he wanted me to be his only pt that day. im a bit nervous about a long surgery like that but if I get my sleeve then so be it.
