Default 2 month post op question

I’m 2 months out and was wondering if what I’m experiencing is normal. Eating is very uncomfortable. Even soft foods like yogurt and cottage cheese. I’m only able to eat about an ounce of protein before having pain. If I’m eating yogurt for a snack I can only do one tablespoon and then nothing again for a couple more hours - even liquids an hour or so after eating a tablespoon of yogurt is very uncomfortable. I’m almost to the point where I don’t want to even eat because I know it’s going to hurt. My friend had surgery one week before I did and is eating 1 cup of food at every meal. My surgeons guideline states at this point I should be having 4-6 tablespoons of food at each meal, 2-3 oz meat or protein.

    TIA

    Mandy,
I felt uncomfortable for the first few days but at 4 weeks the only discomfort I feel is when I've eaten too much or too fast. My surgeon told me that if I felt any pain after the first week I should call, so maybe you should check in with your doctor. Sorry for what you're experiencing!

At 2 months I only felt bad if I overate. (And I learned that lesson quickly). I would talk to your surgeon. It's probably nothing, and we're all different, but it's worth checking out.

I know at 2 months it took me a long time to eat. I would take me my full 35 minute lunch to eat "most" of my 4 oz yogurt. Some days were better than others. I was in no way eating a cup of food at 2 months. I am not sure I even eat a cup of food now at 13 months. I know that since I had such strong restriction I was eating several times a day since I could eat so little. Eventually I was able to eat more and not have to eat so frequently. Hang in there. It will get better.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Still having real bad upset stomach so I think I’m going to call doctor’s office today. I was prone to gastritis before surgery and have been extremely stressed out the past couple of weeks so maybe it’s just irritated.

OMG Dale has it already been a month since your surgery??? You joined the forum just before I did, but it seems like the time has gone so quickly! Nice adjustment to your ticker too!

I was very uncomfortable eating anything for about 4 months. Took almost a year before eating wasn't such a chore. But you are mentioning pain, not discomfort. Are you taking a PPI, H2 blocker or antacid? Those could help a lot.
