I did it! I was at goal for 3 years. Then I broke my neck and gained 5 pounds. I kept those 5 pounds for 10 months! I lost it in less than 2 weeks by tracking with the Weight Watchers program. So I only had to pay for 2 weeks as I am a lifetime member. Lost my weight with phen-phen in the early 90's, and I'm sure you all can imagine how that went. Gained it all back and much more.
I now feel my nutritionist was wrong when she told me to only track protein and liquids. I basically only ate protein and veggies for 4 years. But quite a few of my protein choices were really high in calories (sugar/fat?), like my Greek yogurt, ANY protein bar, my nut, cheese, and craisin snack pack for example. Yesterday I walked around Costco taking photos of about 10 protein bar choices, and there were none that were low in points. They all ranged from 5 to 10. So I get 24 points a day and eating a few protein bars (as I used to) would be a stupid choice. But my premier protein shake is only 2 points. I use it in for my coffee cream and drink the rest.
I am in no way recommending Weight Watchers, just staying for me, struggling to maintain, it works. It has changed over the years to basically be exactly how a sleeve patient should eat. Things like chicken, seafood, fish, eggs, fruits and veggies all have 0 points. So when hubby makes his delicious fish and veggie dinner, I just count the olive oil he cooks it in, or maybe the parmesan cheese he puts on top of the broccoli. Not to mention with the sleeve, there is absolutely no problem sticking with the point system. (Back in the day I was so hungry I would eat all my points before breakfast.)
People have been telling me to track for years and I resisted. You guys were right! However you do it, it works.
Now I want to lose 10 more pounds, as I am at the top of the healthy BMI range. This is so easy I think I can do it!
