    Default Frustrated!

Hi all - finally got my nerve up to attend the informational seminar at my hospital and was on the way when I got a call that it was cancelled due to "snow". We have about 1/32 of an inch of snow. I bet it won't be rescheduled till after the holidays!
    Trying to be patient!

Oh yes, I'm looking out my window at what DC considers a snowstorm. I grew up in the Midwest so I'm amazed every winter by the panic that sets in when a few flakes fall.

I will tell you that I felt frustrated by how long it took from the time I decided the sleeve might be "the answer" to the date of my surgery. It takes 6-8 mos (depending on your insurance requirements) which seemed so crazy to me. Now I realize that it's so important to use that time to get your head & habits in order so you can make the most of your sleeve. Read what you can on this forum and others. Start practicing good eating habits like eating more slowly and chewing thoroughly. Begin to wean yourself from carbonated drinks and cut back your alcohol and caffeine. Many people in this group lost a good amount of weight before surgery and that really helped them after surgery.

Don't be discouraged. I'm realizing is that this is a journey not a quick fix. Use this time to continue to prepare for the journey of your life!

Arrrgh thats frustrating DCGIRL but great advice from Dale ^^^
Plus keep hanging around here and that will help set you up weell. Before you know it we will all be sending you good luck messages the night before and the time will have flown. The time passes anyway. I really agree with Dale about preparing yourself with maybe giving up some bad habits and making some healthier choices.
You could also totes get into it and make a vision board or a pinterest board of all the things you would like after surgery, like the sort of outfits you want to wear, the kind of things you'd like to do... if youre the creative sort. You can have private boards on pinterest too :-) Visualisation and positivity is great. You get what you think about and all that. It will be nice to have you around :-)

I lived in DC for 40+ years after being raised in SW Pa where snow rules. I never could understand how unprepared for snow they were in the DMV! The journey to surgery is the hardest part but stay strong and follow your program. I am 4 days post-op and nearly gave up mid-way through. I'm so glad I didn't!

That's funny from a girl from Wisconsin. People would never leave their house.

But not funny that you didn't get to you seminar. Sorry!
