Are you cleared for "real" food? I'm cleared next week for soft food and I'm looking forward to eating seafood (just didn't have the heart to puree fresh seafood) and chicken that isn't mush. I've been making lentil dishes to add some moisture & more protein to my purees so I'll look forward to eating those without whirring them into mush.

Hi Farmer, I have just progressed yesterday to real foods! So I had 2 scallops for my tea and a tiny bit of hot smoked salmon. So far i've been very much eggs, tuna and chicken but I'm hoping to get more adventurous now. I suppose just buy some things you like but in as small quantities as you can. I guess the deli counter is good for that. You won't need much eh :-)

I bought some crackers made from almonds and another brand made from lentils. (Both have protein.) I'm trying to limit carbs so this seemed like a good compromise.

I've had the odd cruskit. It's kinda like a cracker but more airy! I don't mind the odd carb and I'm certainly not against them, as I usually do a heap of exercise and might just die without the odd one, but I think I will concentrate on veg for carb generally. Thats if I can fit it in, I'll go protein then veg then carb but possibly won't get to the carb for a while. The cruskit is handy to put the egg and tuna on here and there.
I understand that people get concerned about the carbs and everyone is different but for me carbs=energy, but thats me running 14km before breakfast or something!! Mind you i havent run for 5 weeks so I'm gonna be dying when I first go out!!! I am relying on cell memory lol ;-)
I'm all about balance and I think (and this is totally just my opinion) that it isn't wise to cut out whole food groups. But good carbs to me are things like brown rice and sweet potato not white buns and cake. But some people might get away with the odd bun and cake and good on em. Drive your own bus.
I'm on a ramble now but when I lost 40kg before the surgery, over a few years, that was just lifestyle change and not eating anything with a barcode, I think this method works. I'm not really into a diet mentality but in saying that I am tracking on MFP at the moment as I want to keep on top of protein and I'm interested in the amount of calories I'm consuming. I have got it up to about 750 now and want to get over 800 asap for when I start running again. I guess thats why I am interested in tracking at the moment, but that might change.
I think everyone has their own methods and what works for them is great :-) Unless they are eating maccas every meal, then I'm like 'gosh, show us your aeorta'!! ;-)
But yeah, i've totes had an odd cruskit :-)

Well said Stacey. You have conquered your little fat demon and you're definitely heading for the finish line.
I like a bit of carb now and then, so I will look for lighter carb crackers etc. I do love a fresh slice of bread though
but maybe a treat now and then.

Restricting carbs is more my personal choice. I'm a carboholic and could easily slide down that slippery slope. Also, my son is getting married in 6mos. so to maximize my early weight loss I'm trying to be very careful. I expect to be more 'balanced' in the future but to be honest, I just don't trust myself at this point. I'm still getting carbs in my other food, including protein shakes. But hey, if you can handle carbs, go for it!

I don't eat a lot of bread never have, once in a while the odd sandwich or wrap, but I do like having a carb in my meal. For the lifestyle I have I believe it is necessary in my diet.

I was trying all real foods. But focus was on solid proteins such as fish, chicken, beef, etc. I would eat some veg but really only had room for the protein. You can't eat much. Enjoy. Just remember to eat very slowly and let your body feel the full.
