Default Pain when liquids go in.

Hi, this is day seven post op for me but when I sip my fluids I get a pain in my stomach that takes
a bit to subside. Then I continue with another few sips till it happens again.
Is this normal? Will it gradually disappear? Just a little worried. It's like a bad heartburn.
Otherwise all else is going good.
I went out for lunch with friends today, they don't know I've been done, I ordered a small skim cappuccino,
Saying I wasn't hungry. I only had half but I didn't feel left out.
Definitely not hungry. Just the heartburn concern.

That is normal. You stomach is supper swollen and angry right now. It does get better.

So glad you found a way around not eating and being social without being obvious!

Completely normal at that stage. Hang in there, it does get better! It also took me quite a while before I could actually tell when I was full.I would overdo it at first, and then feel really bloated and nauseated after I ate. Heartburn has been an ongoing issue for me... I first overdid it shortly after my sleeve surgery, with a creamed soup, having just about 3 oz. But, man I got so sick! As your body adjusts, you will notice cues from your tummy more easily.

That's a relief that it's normal to feel this way.
I was cheering tonight, saying, 1 more week and I'm on purée food, woohoo!
My husband looked at me and we both laughed.
Never have I looked forward to purée food, more than I do now, lol.

Also, if you had a hiatal hernia repair, it takes a while to heal!

If you're drinking caffeine it might be aggravating your new tummy. I was told to stay away from caffeine at least for the first month post-op. Some doctors say even longer. I also discovered that since surgery I have become lactose intolerant. Apparently it's a common thing. I use Fairlife milk because it has high protein and is lactose free. Did your doctor prescribe an anti-gas med? If not, you might ask for that as well. I've been on Pantoprazole (Protonix) since the day after surgery.

Yea sounds normal Jean and I am lolling over you looking forward to purees! I was the same, I was like I am so sick of this liquid. Then you get onto purees and can only eat a couple of spoonfuls lol. You also eat things you would never have considered before LOL! Glad you got out and about, good on you :-)

Thanks for all your help. I didn't have a strong coffee but it's with shakes as well.
I have got medication for gas, so I guess as it all heals, it will get better.
Really enjoying the other feeling that this is working!
Eight kilos and still going. Long way to go but it's a joy not to feel sad and hungry.

    Woohoo!
