    Default I am considering

Hello everyone. I have seen amazing results of this surgical procedure. Family members have done this and with success. I am considering this as everything else I have tried has failed.

    Help me decide

    Welcome.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Do you have any health issues that could be potentially resolved with bariatric surgery? Have you been overweight most of your life?

Personally, I was always able to lose substantial weight without surgery but always gained it back plus more in a yo-yo pattern. I'd lose 30, regain 50, lose 60, regain 90, then rinse/repeat.

I'm nearly 3 years out and this is the most weight stable I've been in my entire life.

Feel free to ask questions or make comments. Most of the members of this forum are supportive and helpful.

Hi twinkie, my story is always overweight most of my life but same as rehab nurse, able to lose quite a bit but always put back on... until the last 4 years where I lost 40kg and kept it off. but that was blood sweat and tears let me tell you and I was still overweight despite running half marathons and crossfitting several times a week!!!!
I'm 4 weeks out now and I reckon it is the best descision I've made. It is just so easy at the moment as I just don't have the hunger I used to have. I think for me I had already put in a really lot of work to create a healthy lifestyle. I don't eat anything with a barcode generally and I don't eat sugar or processed food. Because of this I think I haven't had the problem with head hunger or desires for non healthy foods. I know I'm fortunate with that as I think it can be a struggle. My advice would be to try and clean up your diet a bit first or while youre in the process. I think that will make it much easier.
I know that there are people who would disagree perhaps and say that you lose weight anyway because you eat less but gawd i think there is a lot to be said for the quality of foods we take in. But thats just my thing. But I think it would help you with shock factor if you do eat any crap!! I mean you might not! You might be like me! I don't want to presume anything ;-)

I think the first week is tough after the op, I think we are all different in recovery but I found the first week hard and the second and third week up and down. I'm now week 4 and just starting to get some energy back. I didn't have any other health issues when i had the surgery but it often cures type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and other things so if you have those concern the surgery can be good for that. Hope that helps :-)

    Hi Twinkie!
For me personally this a life changer. Like most I could lose some weight but never keep it off no matter how active and well I ate. I started with a bmi of 52 and have been overweight all my life.

When I met with my nut for the first time 14 months ago I changed the way I ate that day. Also gave up a 25+ year addition to diet coke. No more soda. I used my fitness pal app to track food and exercise...I still use it. It is what works for me. I lost 51 pounds before surgery in May. I'm now 6 months out and have lost a total of 121 pounds and only 9 pounds away from goal weight. There is no way I could have gotten this far with out the help of my new tool!

You have to do what is right for you but for me it was the right thing. Good luck!

Best decision ever! Read up and decide if it is what is right for you. My sleeve has made me happier and healthier than I have been in 20 years. One of my favorite info sites was https://www.obesitycoverage.com/gast...erence-manual/
