Just curious how many people brought cash with them for their surgery. Someone I'm going with is bringing cash but I feel nervous bringing such a large amount of cash with me.
Sorry, I'm just curious how this works.
You have to pay your surgeon and your insurance pays you back?
Or does your insurance not cover it and do you have to pay yourself?
Ive never thought about that...
Insurance doesn't cover the Doctors in Mexico.
People go to mexico and have it done there for several reasons.
1. Insurance won't approve you for the surgery because you are not obese enough.
2. Insurance takes forever to approve you for the surgery (3-9 months in the us and Years in Canada)
3. Your copay cost work out to More than just paying the $3,600 + travel costs to mexico (insurance in the US usually only pays 80% of the cost in the US which is $15k to $20K . So, the copay cost to the patient with insurance in the US is usually $3k to $5k)
4. You don't have insurance.
5. You just want the best doctors (In Mexico) that do thousands of sleave surgeries per year instead of the doctor your insurance assigns you to that does 1-2 a year.
Thank you!
Yes, you definitely want a skilled surgeon.
Too bad the insurance won't cover that.
Our insurance only won't pay, when you don't meet the criteria, BMI etc. and comorbidities like diabetes, sleep apneu or high blood pressure.
Otherwise my insurance covers world wide.
We are very fortunate...
