I was sleeved on 10/25 and was regular on my period before hand however im almost a week late? No chance of being pregnant tubes have been tied for over a year.. Is this normal??
Yes, hormones can go crazy for pre-menopausal women after WLS. That's why doctors tell pre-menopausal WLS patients to use not one, but TWO forms of birth control post-op to avoid getting pregnant while losing weight and after they've had a chance to get their maintenance going well.
If you haven't read about this yet, here's another lovely bit: As you lose weight rapidly post-op, a lot of old hormones that have been stored throughout your body are going to get flushed out into your blood stream and may cause some extra mood changes. This happens to men also. So in addition to all the expected mental and emotional and psychological changes one goes through after WLS, you get some extra hormonal boosts at the same time. Oh, joy!
Yeah, not very fair, is it? But it's good to know that some of your Big Feelings post-op are being biochemically elevated by the "hormone-cleansing" your body is undergoing.
