    Default 7 week mini update

I am 7 weeks out from my October 2nd surgery. Down 35 lbs and really dropping inches.

The doctor gave me the OK for light weight training starting today. I went to my health club and did about 10 machines. Doc said to go at 60% of what I was doing pre surgery. I went light today with a lot of reps, no grunting or groaning just simple movements. No problems at all, did everything light and forced myself not to push too hard.

One observation. Since surgery I lost muscle mass and felt weak. I intend to work out 3 times per week from here out and increase my protein.

Another test tomorrow. Golf at 12:30 in beautiful 52* Northern, Ohio.

    Hi Pheeel21.....

As you and I have had our surgery on the same day, I am very interested in how you're doing. I still cannot go to a gym yet as I have a hard time walking for more than a minute without my cane. However, I believe it is getting better every day.

I have been able to eat just about anything for the last two weeks. How about you?

I went to my regular doctor today and she is impressed with my numbers: normal blood pressure, 6.2 A1C, leg shins that looked like rough tree bark before surgery now looks almost normal, and I have lost over 80 pounds.

Take care and keep us posted!

    Starting weight: 505
    Surgery weight: 464.....41.....41 pounds lost
    2-weeks after: 445.....19.....60 pounds lost
    3-weeks after: 439..... 6.....66 pounds lost
    4-weeks after: 435..... 4.....70 pounds lost
    2-months after: 424......11....81 pounds lost
    3-months after: 405......19...100 pounds lost....exactly!
    4-months after: 385......20...120 pounds lost

Tom, your progress sounds wonderful -- both pounds and NSVs (non-scale victories). You must feel so good.

Sounds like you are doing really well! Yes, you will lose some muscle initially. That is why protein is so important as is working out. You will be back to where you were and more in no time....difference being it will be in a slimmer, healthier body!! YAY! How can you not celebrate that?
