Hello, I'm Candie. I am from Georgia and my surgery date is December 13th which also happens to be my birthday. I kind of like it that way.
Anyway I am currently on my 4 week Pre op diet and it sucks. Any advice?
Hi Candie, It does suck a bit but keep the bigger picture in sight! What is your pre op diet like? I had to have shakes and bars and soup from optifast. To be honest I wish i had just bought the shakes as I coul make them tolerable with a shot of coffee and ice and then blend them. You'll get there. Keep thinking about what you are going to gain from it all. Congrats on your decision :-)
I agree - tired of same foods. But not tired of consistently losing with only small stalls, don't want to have the "froths" from overeating or pushing my luck, as I am want to do. So just stay the course.
Counting the days (Dec 2) when I can go back to small bits of "real" food.
Welcome Candie! I was lucky to have a pretty easy pre op and it was only 9 days. (3 being liquids only.) I think it is pretty amazing to have your surgery on your birthday. It will be your rebirth to a new life. You are going to love having it on such a significant date that you can celebrate it every year. Read up as much as you can between now and the 13th to help you feel prepared. This surgery is the best thing ever. Reach out if you have questions.
What a birthday present to yourself. Great start to your new you.
Get good sleep and your mind active while awake. The time will pass quickly. This is the worst it will be.
My surgery is December 6th and I am about halfway through my optifast diet. It sucks big time but I just keep telling myself I can do anything for 1 month. Honestly though I'm big into organic non-gmo foods and this optifast is packed full of so much crap that I decided to incorporate 2 eggs per day & a piece of fish or chicken with a salad that just has vinegar on it for dinner & I have cut back on the soup & bars. The shakes aren't that bad. I have a soup for lunch and a shake or bar for breakfast and another shake or 2 for snacks to keep the hunger at bay a bit. I feel like I'm starving ALL day which sucks but I'm handling ok. I started a week early so I'm doing it for 5 weeks to try and drop a little extra weight. So far I've lost 19 pounds since Oct 31st so what I'm doing seems to be working for me. I've been trying to go to the gym & walk for at least an hour a few times per week but last week I got too busy with kids stuff. Trying to lift a little bit of weights here and there too. I hope some of this helps and I wish you the best of luck on this journey!
Hi, Candie. Welcome. Many people find the pre-op diet pretty tough. I was luckier than most. But I have no doubt at all that it can be a booger!
Post-op your appetite will be much reduced for many months while you can't eat much at all during the time your little sleeve is repairing itself after surgery.
I hope you have the best success possible from your sleeve. I see you have quite a bit of weight to lose. Folks in that situation usually lose very, very fast during the early weight loss period. I'm sure those disappearing pounds will make you feel so much better!
Very best wishes!

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I am a very stubborn person and my sister is very vocal about how she feels and thinks that I can't do this. I know I can do this. I keep telling myself that I just have to get through this step then I can get on to the next step. My husband is a lot of help. My diet is just 5 bariatric advantage shakes a day, but because I am a diabetic I have to mix them with skim milk instead of water which I am thankful for because it makes them taste ten times better.
Welcome Candie,
I'm having mine done on 30th Nov. I hate the pre op diet too! So tempted to break it but I'm looking at the bigger picture.
Healthier skinnier sexier and feeling proud of myself again. Nothing worse than low selfasteem.
Keep up you're good work.
