Can anyone suggest a better tasting vitamin? Currently on bariatric advantage and still HATE the taste.

    Thanks.

I was taking gummies. I would get them from Target or Walmart. Then I started taking the Centrum Gummies and then regular Women's Centrum pills now. I've had full blood panels done 3 times and my vitamin levels are perfect. I'm not deficient in anything. I still have a huge bottle of Bariatric Advantage. It made me really sick. Find what works for you. All of my vitamins were approved by my Dr.
A lot of people forget and Gummies are easier to chew and taste better so you are more likely to take them then not.

Thanks for posting the question as vitamin supplementation and getting the appropriate micronutrients post VSG are two things I am concerned and passionate about!!!

I'd to share a synopsis of a read I came across early on:

Nutritional deficiencies are a clear danger after all types of WLS. While the risk varies with the procedure, none is immune. The ultimate goal of WLS is to create a greater opportunity for health and longevity. As powerful tools for the promotion of weight loss, these procedures increase patients’ potential for better health. However, many patients and even physicians downplay the role of postoperative nutrition in long-term health and wellbeing.

In the early months and years after a patient’s WLS, when he or she is basking in the benefits of a thinner more mobile body and reversed comorbid conditions, it may be hard for that patient to think about the greatly increased risk for neurological impairment and bone loss that can result from poor nutrition. Despite the fact that nutritional deficiencies may sound like very small concerns when compared to hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, and the sheer stigma of morbid obesity, they are very real concerns for WLS patients.

Unmonitored deficiencies can leave patients vulnerable to both acute and chronic conditions with variable reversibility and, in some cases, permanent physical damage.

Having shared that, I hated hated hated the chewables and as soon as I was able to swallow pills I got a pharmaceutical grade multivitamin, but recently returned to Bariatric Advantage chewables because they provided the best value, I had to take three of the pills to get the same nutrients that two chewables provide at half the cost, plus I am guessing it takes longer to breakdown the pills andvour nee sleeve stomach has less time to absorb micronutrients before they pass on to the intestines than the already chewed vitamins.

    Just something to consider.

    Best wishes!

I have liquid centrum and it smells! I would cut my regular multivitamins up if I could, but they are just too darn LARGE! The girth alone would make it impossible to slide on down my throat. I have been swallowing all of my other pills and cut up the ones I need to, even though I was told not to for a month or so. I have a closet shelf full of liquid vitamins and supplements I bought, but they made me gag and puke at each spoonful. So NOT worth it. It's hard enough with the pills... I dont know what it is, the water taste? I have such a hard time every morning taking them, but I do. I know its very important.

    Hi,

I have been been trying the patches from Patch MD in preparation. The nurse indicated that everyone she has checked who used them was doing well. Not the best price wise, but better than trying to swallow pills and liquid vits.

The vitamins that we are most at risk for being deficient in are B12, Iron, Thiamine, and Calcium according to a sign in my surgeon's office. That being said I take a chewable woman's multi vitamin by vitafusion (it is not bad), D3 1000iu from Nature Made, B12 500mcg 2X a day by vitafusion, Calcium Citrate +D by Equate (we are supposed to have Calcium Citrate not Carbonate or any of the other Calcium's), Biotin 10,000 mcg from Natrol, and stool softeners.

My doctor insisted that his patients use only certain kinds of vitamins: Isotonix (NutraMetrix) multivitamin (a powder taken once a day), or a soft chewables taken 2 times a day - either Celebrate (Bariatric Multivitamin) or Bariatric Advantage. His staff said that gel chewables don't provide enough nutrients. I take Isotonix and add regular water. It's fizzy but doesn't cause gas and I like getting it done with just one shot. It's kind of orangey. We also have to take calcium and vitamin B12. I have do take gel chewable B12 but I take NutraMextrix's calcium powder.

I hope this helps. All the best!

I am almost 4 yrs post op and I have had a hard time swallowing and have had a difficult time getting my vitamins in. I had blood work done and I am deficient in alot of areas. I was told by a pharmacist that the gummies we're efficient enough for post bariatric patients. But if y'all have had positive results with the gummies then I will use them again. Has anyone found a multivitamin that is smaller in size?
