    Red face 6 Weeks Out

So it's been mostly good. I made the transition from liquids to puree with no problem and appreciated the advice about not stressing about calories, just water & protein. It made things seem a lot easie
I have transitioned to soft foods; my brave try with salmon was not a good thing, but did learn a great lesson that eating to fast is a very bad idea! I'm doing well, although kind of tired of the same things. There are a lot of recipes, but it makes so much and you eat so little that there are lots of left overs!

My weight has gone down from 197+ to 162 today, and I've lost about 50" from all over (apparently even on my feet as shoes are suddenly too big.

I am still tired, but my dr said that was a result of the second surgery & transfusions, but I should pick up before Christmas. I also start "real" food on December 2nd, so looking forward to doing some more cooking. We usually do New Orleans food for Christmas and all my kids come home, with the grandkids.

I am also off 14 medications, with only 4 a day which is amazing for me! I'm so glad I did this.

    Thanks for all your support.

Ann2, the only down side I've found is that apparently fat filled out a few wrinkles! But I'll take good health instead

LOL! Annie, you may find that some of those wrinkles shrink a bit down the line. I think I look younger now than I did when I first reached 135 pounds two years ago. And exercise can help, too, especially the kinds of exercises that build muscles. Regular yoga and aquarobics classes have provided those benefits for me. The changes came on slowly, but they definitely have arrived.

But the first year post-op all I did was walk. BTW, when I first started counting my steps I clocked in at a whopping 900 steps/day. Whee! I have always followed the First Rule of Exercise for Old People: Don't hurt yourself!

Awesome news, Annie!! I too am feeling limited with soft foods. I’m trying to keep all my food intake to protein. Made sloppy joe, and what would have been 4-5 servings is now 20! I’m freezing a lot of food, but it’s hard to have variety because now I have a freezer full of food that still needs to get eaten. Lol!

That is wonderful! So glad you havent had any major problems these last weeks. I am with you on the pureed foods. I found making a big enough quantity to last at least 2-3 days. Otherwise I am constantly pureeing something. That has worked for me so far. So happy for you and your weight loss.

I love that you are off of so many medications. That is awesome!! And I would not worry about the wrinkles Annie. They do tighten up. Just remember to get your vitamins in, protein, water, and use lotion. I just use Oil of Olay and find it works great. I have always used that, though. I also take Collagen in my coffee daily. It is supposed to help. For the amount of weight I have lost, my skin looks pretty good. I have noticed improvement with time, though.

Thanks, Stacey03! I have naturally curly hair and finally found someone who knows how to cut it. Very kind of you to say so.
