Lol, Im not sure Phil, but I've heard that they use smaller ones in Australia than America. I don't know if this is true, i have no evidence but it's interesting. I think generally in the world they decide on the patients weight and height and stuff. How are you going? Hope all is peachy :-)

A 40F bougie was used to create my sleeve.

By the way, some people love to blame their surgeon's use of a larger bougie size for their failure to lose sufficient weight and/or attain their goal weights.

For example, an infrequent member griped that her surgeon didn't "give her a chance" since he used a 38F bougie to shape her sleeve, but countless others (including myself) reached their goal weights with sleeves shaped using 38F and 40F bougie sizes.

The bougie size doesn't matter nearly as much as one's lifestyle and habits.

    F40 here.

One bougie size is 1/3 of a mm.
    Some info here:

English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I also had a 40 so Australia uses all sizes. I have lost more than I thought I would and kept it off

It matters not what size the "tool" is, it's how you use it that makes the difference. The sizes are pretty standard and I've seen success with varying sizes of bougies.
