    Default Coffee Suggestions Please!

Pre-op I was a standard 2 (large) cups of coffee a day, sometimes more. Sugar has never been a problem for me here, I've been using Splenda or some other sugar alternative for 15+ years, and I rarely added anything like chocolate or caramel (maybe once a week I'd have one on the weekends).

My biggest fall down is cream.

I truly dislike the taste of black coffee, having tried it intermittently over the years to see if my palate changed, and I find that milk just doesn't cut it (tasted watery and lackluster). I have attempted non-fat creamers but they leave a foul "oily" taste in my mouth.

Can anyone recommend a tasty coffee creation that is low-calorie? Something I can drink everyday without killing myself both in nutrition and taste?

    Thanks!

I used to drink my coffee black pre op, but after the surgery I don;t like the taste anymore.
    I make a coffee "shake".

    1 cup of coffee
    scoop protein powder, vanilla flavour
    soy milk
sugarfree valilla or caramel flavoured syrup
some crushed ice is nice, but I don't really need that.

I put it in my shaker bottle.
    Reason: typo
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I make a homemade skinny latte using skim milk (half a cup nuked for a minute) and frothed with an Aerolatte battery-driven, inexpensive frother. I actually use a 20-calorie raw sugar envelope. But I have only one of those in the morning.

Afternoons I have another skinny latte, but this time with the Sebastiano Coffee Caramel Froth ... see https://www.walmart.com/search/?quer...froth&cat_id=0

Then there are the Torino sugar-free syrups if those are more your style. Also available at Walmart and many places -- IRL and online.

I've also sometimes used Premier Protein Chocolate shake (and heated it beforehand) to make a protein mocha coffee drink.

So little coffe! So many options!

    Hi Panda,
I'm replying to this because I'm a coffee lover and us Aussies have the best coffee! LOL.
Have you tried unsweetened coconut milk? I dont know if you have this but you might like it. It isn't the stuff in the tin, it comes in a box. Anyway its good. it's probably got some fat though. I don't even know if this information is useful but it might be and just a thought! :-)

I just use the Vanilla Premier Protein shakes as creamer, adds flavor and sweetness, and protein!, basically tastes like a Starbucks skinny vanilla latte.

I use this stuff called Leaner Creamer. It's made with coconut oil and it's delicious and healthy. I've been using it for a few month now. I was a huge half and half drinker with my coffee and I like it light. This has been working so great for me. I just order it online from leanercreamer.com Good luck!

First of all, a little cream in your coffee isn't going to kill you, but other than cream, have you tried flavored coffee? I really like French Vanilla Coffee. (Not French Vanilla creamer mind you, but coffee that's made with French Vanilla in it.) Folgers makes the cheapest one.

Also, caffeine keeps me up even if I drink it early in the morning, so I use 2-spoons of decaf and 1-spoon of French Vanilla coffee together, so I only have 1/3 the caffeine, and the real coffee kills the bitter tastes of the decaf.

(Lost my first 50-pounds today. Woo-hoo!)

Who says you can't have half & half or heavy whipping cream in your coffee? These creams won't make you fat or stall your weight loss.

I drink a minimum of 3 cups of coffee per day, each with 2 tablespoons of half & half or heavy whipping cream. I use full-fat products because fat-free stuff doesn't have the same rich texture.

I'm with sraebaer, but I use the atkins french vanilla shakes. They have half the protein if the premier and work better for coffee to me for the that reason. Weight watchers makes a low carb, low sugar coffee additive in a little sleeve like crystal light. You can also buy a no calorie, no carb creamer in the grocery store. It's pretty good, I'll attach a link for you. They have a lot of good products and you can find their products in a lot of stores too.

Woah - thanks for all these suggestions! I will look into Fa!rlife and Leaner Creamer (thank you julieaponte & Christie13).

Also, Cale - grats on your 50lb milestone!!

I wouldn't be so concerned about the full fat cream if I was using less of it. But I like my coffee really light, so that's were I start cringing and wondering at other alternatives that are still tasty. I want to succeed, and that means (to me) nixing out poor choices for the long-run. Premier Protein is my go-to shake everyday, but I never thought to add it to my coffee, HAH. Interesting idea.

All of these suggestions hold value to me, so thank you so much.

One thing I must mention. Personally, I think the vast majority of people make coffee much too strong and ruin the taste. It takes one LEVEL teaspoon per cup--not a heaping teaspoon. My mug holds 3-cups. When I fill it, I leave enough room at the top to pour in about a half inch of plain water to take even more of the tartness out. If I make it right, I don't need creamer. Anyhow, that works for me.
