I used to take yoga years ago. Reading this makes me want to find classes here. (I just moved to this area 3 1/2 years ago.) I know that yoga and pilates are great ways to keep a toned mind and body! Thanks for the reminder.

The hospital where I work offer 2 free fitness classes a week for our patients, Gentle Chair Yoga and Fitness. We all have done so well that we're not out of chairs and the yoga isn't so gentle anymore; and that's the way we like it! We still have patients that aren't very fit, but the instructor will then demonstrate the chair way vs the mat way so the practice is for everyone no matter what level of fitness. We actually do a "boot camp" type of fitness on the other night and we have certified instructors for each class.
I feel my body has changed since yoga, it's leaner, longer and I notice my movements are more "fluid". My nephew, who hadn't seen me in a while, said I "Move gracefully". Imagine that and I don't see it as I always thought I sounded like a dinosaur when I moved

I've been going to yoga class for the past 18 months, and it has changed everything about my body. Strength (had no idea yoga could be such a muscle-building practice!), balance (boy, did I need that!), flexibility (expected that, but it's rewarded me in spades), and calmness. That last one (calmness) has probably been the most useful of all my benefits.

Based on my experience, I'd say that the most important thing about starting a yoga practice is to find a yoga teacher who is highly trained and delivers the kind of training that new yoga students deserve. I'm incredibly lucky that our little town has just such a teacher. Bigger towns surely have many more options to choose among.

Yoga can be hit or miss for me. For some reason, I can't handle hot yoga! I get really light headed and end up laying in child's pose half the class however, regular yoga, especially outside on a nice day, is heavenly. I always feel some soreness the next day, which makes me feel like it was a good work out!

My partner and I have just starting taking yoga classes this year and we love it.
Found out just how inflexible I am - but that is improving.
Didn't realise that my balance wasn't much chop either, so am working on that too.
We have a great little community class and a wonderful teacher. We are all beginners and we all have a giggle every now and again and the seemingly impossible positions that our teacher can maneuver herself into.....and expect us to do the same
I have certainly rediscovered some muscles that I had forgotten that I had! I just wish the classes were more than once a week.

I would love a beginner yoga class. I tried one once and felt like a fool, didn't know the pose names and could hardly see the teacher as they had lights out and there were people in front of me. And I have a huge, lovely YMCA to attend with probably 4 classes going on at a time. No reason they couldn't offer something for beginners.

I went to a yoga class once and felt so self-conscious as well. I know it was just in my head, but it still felt so strange. A beginner class would be amazing! haha
No wonder some many men love these fat burners because they're awesome.

I have a friend, slightly overweight, who ONLY does yoga for exercise. I am surprised at how good she looks! It really does a great job toning your entire body.

Yoga and mediation are the best. When you get used to it, it's like water to the soul. Can't live without it.

to be honest, when I was younger. I had too much stress and disappointment in life... I've discovered yoga and pranayama for the beginners. Now yoga is a huge part of my life and due to the pranayama techniques life became easier, I learnt that despite whatever happening in your life, it's important to breathe, breathing is key factor to solving the problems. Thanks to yoga and https://yogapractice.com/yoga/pranayamas-for-beginners/ which taught me those very special techniques.

I want to learn to meditate and practice yoga for years but it's so expensive that I couldn't afford it.
