Well, last Friday was my retirement day! After working pretty much continuously since I was 14 years old, on October 13th I officially retired. My husband retired on the same day and now we are starting another adventure. By the end of this month we will be moving from Central California to Houston, Texas. Our son and his family moved there about 2 years ago and we are following the grandkids. (Our daughter lives northwest of Buffalo, NY and there's no way this California girl can handle those winters) So all of this is happening just as I am 3 months post-op. My surgeon will refer me to a practice in the Houston area to continue my follow-up care and I'm pretty sure my grandkids will see to my continuing exercise. My son and granddaughter have already found a huge dog park for me to get in lots of walking with my dog, McGee. Both of us will be in much better shape due to increased walking. While I've been working it's been hard to get in enough exercise, so I'm really looking forward to this. Everything will be new and strange, but I'm soooo ready for the changes.

By the way, I relocated from Central California (Bakersfield) to Texas 12 years ago and haven't looked back. Nowadays the San Joaquin Valley seems like an armpit whenever I return to California for visits. You'll love it here in the Lone Star State.

Happy retirement! I retired from teaching when school ended last year, but have been doing quite a bit of subbing lately. Plus a good friend was just diagnosed with with breast cancer, so I will be her long term sub next week until Christmas. But hubby retires in 6 months, so then we'll make a plan. Texas is a possibility as 2/3 of my children live there. But the mountains are still calling for me so we'll see.
