    Red face Nearly 4 month post-op :)

    Hi sleeved fam,
Sorry its taken me so long to get back on, I went through the move that I mentioned before, we ended up not being able to get the internet back on for a whole month. Just been so busy getting settled, trying to stay on-track. September was rough, I was really worried i didn't do well. But I seen my primary care doctor on the 5th of Oct and had another victory, I was actually able to be weighed on the office scale. I'm down another 40 lbs for August & September. thats a total of 123 lbs lost since pre-op diet. I'm averaging a loss of 5 lbs a week. My dr took me off my diabetic meds 7 weeks ago, i just got another blood panel to find out how i'm doing. I will know more on that on the 31st of October.

I do have a concern tho, can anyone tell me if its normal to be eating 2/3 oz by month 4? I have had a couple incidents where i have had a couple bites too many and felt sick from overeating. I don't want my surgery messed up. It also depends on the texture of the food to, soft i'm able to eat abit more, where with like meats and hard texture i get full very quickly.

I hope this finds everyone doing well!?
    Lots of love,
    Kristy

I think you mean 2/3 cup (not 2/3 ounce)? Right?

If so, I think that's not so unusual. That was probably about what I was doing at that point.

Congratulations on your weightloss. Your doing great and don’t think you have anything to worry about. Remember as you get your weight down it will slow down and very normal. Sounds like your diet is going good. Are you exercising? Can you post your starting weight please?

Even if you do mean 2-3 ounces per meal, that sounds reasonable to me. I'm 2 days short of 3 months post-op and 3 ounces if about my limit. Much more than that and I'm very uncomfortable. Your weight loss is fantastic--keep up the good work.

no, i meant ounces... I can't even imagine eating 2/3 cups of food. I can barely get down 3 ounces. it gets very uncomfortable if i go over 2 ounces.

You really are doing awesome and way to turn this around. 2-3oz is very normal for we’re you are. I can’t eat much more than you sometimes and I’m almost 10mos postop. I always start with protein than veggies if there’s room. More important to get protein in than veggies. I have fruit with snack. Thanks for sharing your weight numbers.

Way to go Kristy!!! You are working that sleeve. Yes. 2-3 oz is normal and at just 4 months post op it is still very easy to overeat and feel sick. Just remember to take it slow and chew well. Don't make that sick feeling a habit. Learn to feel your bodies full sensation. The more intuitive you become with your body the better. And congrats on being weighed on the regular scale! That is an amazing NSV. So very proud of you Kristy!! Looking forward to watching you hit your goal!! You got this!

Yea most of the time I chew with caution, because i know its very easy to slip over that limit. But, then i have noticed a couple times where I have, i've actually forgotten about the surgery for split second. I have to remind myself that things are different now, or my stomach reminds me. Drinking liquid is so easy compared to eating. But, i knew going into this, just because i had the surgery it wouldn't automatically correct my way of thinking. Sometimes i still think big, i know that part is going to take alot of time and re-training/re-programming... lol.

I've also noticed if I don't wait for my food to digest properly before falling asleep, I wake up choking. I read that is called back up? I've never experienced this before surgery.

Anyways... hows things going your way?

Not sure if you mean 2/3 of an OUNCE of food or 2 or 3 ounces of food at a time. Either way that's pretty low for 4 months out. I would talk to your surgeon to be sure you're eating enough. Sounds like the weight loss is amazing!

I think I was eating more than that at 4 months, but we're all different. Now I can eat so much more, but still nothing like I could eat before surgery. Plus I get hungry now, so it isn't as easy as the losing part! My typical day is 2 eggs for breakfast (today with one piece of crisp bacon, only because I had made it for hubby), lunch dinner leftovers, and dinner a protein and veggie. But now I can almost eat a whole small chicken breast, where early on a few bites would make me almost sick. Snacks are nuts, low fat greet yogurt, fruit, fresh veggies, low fat string cheese, etc. I eat a lot of fish, so much easier on my tummy. On days I have no leftovers for lunch I like those little green boxed Bumble Bee Snack on the Run Fat Free Tuna Salad packs. Or I'll make a salad. I don't drink the shakes anymore, but do use the Vanilla Premier Protein ones as my coffee creamer/sweetener, makes my coffee taste like a latte. (I hope the heat of the coffee doesn't kill off the protein, my nutritionist said no, but I'm still doubtful.)

When we go out, I can eat one piece of pizza or one taco, even one small cheeseburger from McDonalds. But I don't eat that kind of stuff often! Typically I stick with my rule of two, a protein and veggie. Healthy restaurant choices are ahi tuna (if I order the appetizer I can eat it all), a salad with a chicken breast on top, salmon, shrimp, etc. Hubby gets angry after years of trying to pawn my extra food off on him, so I try to order something small. I do still feel guilty ordering a regular meal, especially something like fish that doesn't do well as a leftover. He could stand to lose some weight, so if I could just talk him into giving me about a 4th of his meal we'd both benefit!

Thanks so much! Yeah, I have learned to record everything i eat and drink in a food journal, that has calories and carbs. I even monitor my sugar intake, to be careful i don't over do it, daily. But most everything I do is extremely low in sugar or sugar free. Dr. put me on a 800 calorie and 40 carbs High protein daily diet. I rarely eat 800 calories daily. usually stay between 400 & 600 daily. the hard part is staying under 40 carbs, because everything, just everything has carbs. But if i can stay under 50 carbs, i don't beat myself up. I just keep moving forward.

I have one cheat day monthly, where I eat what i want and don't record it. with the holidays coming up im going to be saving my cheat days for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My food journal chart looks like this, an example,
