Default Tomorrow is IT - help me calm down!

Tomorrow morning is my VSG. I’ve been perfectly fine, calm but excited until today. I’m light headed and queezy every time I think about it! Cleaning the house like a crazy woman trying not to think about it. I even considered writing letters to my family in case I die! Holy cow y’all, I can’t calm down. Thing is, I have full confidence in my surgeon and love the hospital. My only co-morbidity is diabetes so it’s extremely unlikely anything will happen to me in surgery, had other surgeries with no problem. I’m just afraid for no good reason I guess! I’m so unsure what it will be like after surgery. I’m really terrified of leaving my kids without a mom. OMG HELP!!!

Hallo, I just wanted to chip in here. I havent had the surgery yet so i cant comment on that but my friend is a theatre nurse who looks after people with this surgery and she is very calm and lovely about it all. She says complications are very unlikely with most people. I think its normal to be nervous but just think about how happy you will be afterwards. You are doing this for you. Lots of hugs x

I appreciate the feedback more than you know! I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am and right now I don’t know how I’ll even fall asleep tonight.

Your going to do great!! Be anxious is totally normal. Your in for an amazing ride, trust me you want to get on this ride!!! Make sure you take lots of before pics. I wish I had taken them in my bra and panties. Also take your measurements too. The pics will be fun for you to have for comparison down the road. You will be amazed how far you’ve come. All the best to you on your journey. F6DB1138-A7AB-4B6F-9D72-13DFBC7B9A3F.jpeg

It seems to me that I was feeling the same way. My surgery date was 2/13/13. --Wow what a journey you're in for. Take a look at your t-shirted icon..You're about to free yourself from prison.

Totally normal to feel nervous, but you will be FINE! The surgery isn't that big a deal. The only pain I remember is waking up, but that was over quickly.

Spend tonight dreaming about what it will be like being a healthy, regular-sized person. Getting off your diabetes meds. Think what a better mom you will be for your kids, able to run and play, be around to see them get married and have grandkids. Dream about the life beyond your wildest dreams - you've got this!

Be ready to rest that whole first week after surgery. I napped, walked a little, sipped my protein drinks, and napped some more. I wasn't in pain but I was really sleepy.

Hi everyone! I came home today and I’m so glad. Being in the hospital sucks. I’ll be honest, it’s been pretty awful. I had nausea constantly and my head still hurts now. Stomach is sore but not unbearable. I just pray I feel better every day. Right now I’m just glad it’s over.

Glad to hear you are home! Take your meds and hopefully you'll be feeling better in no time. Also, get some good rest (there is no such thing as rest in the hospital).

Try to walk, it helped me quite a bit both at the hospital and after I got home.

    Good luck!

You made it! Now the real work begins. The first thing is to recover from the surgery. Within a couple of weeks you should be feeling pretty good and be getting your energy back. Just follow the post-op rules that were sent home with you and you will be fine.
