    Question Bowel Movements

Since getting the sleeve surgery, has anyone else, besides me, had more frequent bowel movements? Is it normal for them to increase?
    Thank You.

Hello Yvonne. I am doing great since my surgery. I have had no problems at all health wise. The only thing that has changed is more frequent bowel movements than before. I consider that a good thing.
As long as you have stuck to a strict diet like your Dr. has asked you to, you will have no problem at all. I had to do the 2 week liquid only diet prior to my surgery. My Dr. said my liver was a pretty sight to see. I only had to stay in the hospital for 1 day. Believe me, I was ready to go home.
When I eat now it takes very little food to fill me up. I am still only eating 1 can of cream style soup, with a 1/4 cup of milk and an 1/8 cup of broth added to the soup. For dessert, 1 cup of yogurt. And believe me, I'M FULL! Throughout the day I usually eat a yogurt here and there, and drink my required 64oz. + of water.

Hi! You should drop the weight pretty quick because of your higher bmi. We have similar stats. After surgery just keep moving and drink as much water as you can. Keep up with your protien and you will do well! Good luck next week.

Oh you are lucky then. I had constipation for almost 10 months. It was horrible. I would not be too worried unless it is painful or intolerable. It is your body adjusting.

Did the doctors explain why there are issues with bowel movements? i also read a post saying gall stones were connected with the operation.

I know general anaesthetic constipates people, so that contributes to it. After surgery the primary dietary goal is protein, protein, protein. Veggies, fruit, grains and cereals which is where most people get their fiber are not the priority as much as protein and water, so it's easy for people to get a lil backed up. My mum suggested eating liquorice, and other people have suggested taking a teaspoon of coconut oil to get things moving again.
