    Unhappy Help!

Ok so I only had the surgery on July 20th. Ive lost 53 pounds already... but I've stalled for the second time.

I'm not sure what to do. I don't cheat on my diet, I do eat a little more but it's throughout the day not at one time.

I do have exercise activity but I don't go to a gym, I don't know how I can even be taking in more then 1000 a calories or less a day.

What do I do? I want to lose at least another 40.

Maybe you're not eating enough, 1000 calories a day sounds pretty low. Are you counting your protein grams? But 53 pounds is a lot so you're probably doing everything right!

I don't care for the gym either but exercise daily, just got back from a 2 hour hike in the woods. The key to exercise is to find something you like so you stick with it. Good luck!

    Ruh roh ....

    1. Fact. You don't actually know how much you're eating. You think you know, but you don't really know.

    2. Fact. You're nibbling throughout the day and not a meal times. BAD DOG! BAD! Don't do that. That is the road to perdition. Really. I'm not kidding. Nibbling (called "grazing" in the WLS) is one of the worst habits to establish post-op. When you eat little bits -- probably crap food, eh? -- your stomach never fills up, never feels full, never gets satiated.

    So what do you do?

    1. Eat meals. If you need them, eat snacks. Stop grazing. Period.

    2. Find out how much you ARE eating. If you hate tracking, fine. But track religiously for one week and find out what you *think* you know. Find out. Don't guess.

    Words to the wise.

Congratulations on your 53lb loss. Ive lost 128lbs and I have had multiple stalls or had weight slow down. I noticed what jump started my weightloss or accelerated weightloss is to increase my protein by adding at least one protein shake to my diet. I like premier protein. Find a way to get regular exercise. I really love to hike especially up steep hills. I try to go to the gym for weight lifting. Important to find someway to be active. You can just step outside and walk up and down hills. All the best. 2DADA03E-D498-4F3F-B08D-B577E900CEE1.jpeg

my opinion, if what you're doing isn't working (i.e. stall) change what you're doing. Track your food to see exactly how much protein you're getting, drink more water, change exercise routine, increase/decrease carbs etc. I know for me, if I eat all day long I don't get the full feeling and can easily out eat my sleeve. You got some great advise from people who have been there/done that.

If your doctor is fine with what/how you eat, did you ask how to break the stall?

Well I've lost 70 pounds total so I must have done a few things right. I was asking about what people did to help the stall I certainly didn't expect to feel like I was attacked. I eat healthy through the day. Lots of protein. Lots of water. I eat a few bites. Then in an he a few more bites. I guess I didn't think when I came her for advice to get some not all to be as rude to me as you are. Thanks for the advice. I'll consult my Dr.

Glad you are doing well! Stalls happen.
I don't think anyone was attacking you. Grazing/snacking between your 3 meals is a huge no-no for sleevers. that's how you end up eating more than you should without even realizing it.

It's been awhile since I've been on here. Got tired of the thin skinned drama and newbie expertise. I also got whamboozled by Harvey. So, today, I decided to come on here and take a look around.

LOL....that's about as much as I can say. When a true legend such as Ann is chastised by a poster who asked for help, got great advice, and then turned around and bit the hand that fed her, then, this place ain't for me anymore.

Ann was not attacking you, if anything she was just trying to be funny. Everyone is just here to try to help. Like the other people were saying stalls are a natural part of the process and sometimes they last a little while. It's your body trying to catch up with the weight loss and your body getting ready for the next period of weight loss. Your body is in a constant state of homeostasis, it knows what it should be according to your brain. After barbaric surgery it takes a little while for them to equal out again. It's an adjustment, don't sweat the stalls. They happen, and the farther out you are from surgery the more often they happen and the longer they are. Hang in there! Remember you didn't gain all the weight overnight you're not gonna lose it overnight either. If it takes a couple of years, then so be it. The longer it takes for you to lose it the more successful you will probably be at keeping it off...
One last thing, Ann is right, download an app like my fitness pal and track how much you are eating every day. You would be surprised! I had gotten into the habit of grazing also and it stalled my weight loss. Now I measure my food and make myself wait 4 hours before I allow myself to eat again. You can break the habit of grazing, and you might want to because it's a really bad habit to get into. It could possibly cause you to regain your weight later. Good luck!
