    Default Looking for support!

    Hi All,

Well here I am post Op day 5 and I am feeling amazingly well! I am returning to work soon and I am in need of a belly support band/camisole to wear daily. The stomach binder I was given in the hospital is not very flexible. Any suggestions from my fellow sleevers would be very much appreciated. Thanks nd I am so looking forward to becoming a LOSER!!!

    -Mara

Hi Mara, I didn’t use or need a stomach binder. My doctor didn’t recommend it either. Haven’t heard of any doctor using that. Congratulations on having the Sleeve and you should become a big loser soon. Good luck

I didn't need or use a stomach binder either, but I'll be honest... Spanx are my best friend. Once I started losing relatively quickly, I started wearing a Spanx cami just to smoothe out the lumps from my loose skin. If only they made Spanx that went from my neck to my ankles!

Hi. I am 11 days in and I wouldn’t use a stomach binder your stomach is still healing. Wait until you drop a lot of weight
    Then look into something.

Thanks Hannah, I think I'm going to try Spanx as well. Most of my weight was around my middle and since surgery I feel like I have to hold my tummy when I get up otherwise it pulls on my boo boos. It feels better to have a little support and I stand a lot at work. Thanks again

I used post op because I had a nerve clipped during surgery and it just supported me while moving. I still use it today while exercising as support for my old body. I found it on Amazon, not sure which one but go a size bigger than you think you will need-it is just more comfortable.

I never used anything like that, sounds uncomfortable. Does your doctor advise it?

I didn't use anything either. I did put a little Neosporin on my wounds as they started to heal. It helped it pull less.

I think I know what you mean. My small incisions didn't bother me at all post op, but "the big one" (only about an inch) definitely was tender. That's the one that they took my stomach out through, and the most (and tightest) stitches were under there. Fear not, it won't feel like that forever, but if wearing something like Spanx is comfortable for you, it's probably not a problem once your skin has healed. Since you're less than a week post-op, I'd recommend asking your surgeon's office first. Your incisions are still healing, and should be able to "breathe".
