    Thumbs up Hello To All

Hello everyone. I'm new here, but am not too shy.
I had my sleeve surgery on Monday Sept. 18, 2017. Everything went fine. My Dr. recommends that his patients spend at least 1 night in the hospital. My surgeon, Dr. Parrish, is an amazing Dr.
I started mt journey for the sleeve surgery towards the end of Jan. beginning of Feb. 2017. IMHO, I think all that I went through to get to this point was the hardest! My starting weight was 449 lbs. The day of the surgery, 407 lbs. My Dr. said my liver was perfect and pretty. I was hoping so, after having to give up junk food and losing weight. The hardest part was the 2 week liquid diet leading up to my surgery. I was hoping not to see chicken of beef broth for awhile! I'm now back home and am stocked up on plenty of boxes of jello, freezer full of popsicles, cream type soup, and yes, more chicken and beef broth.

Welcome! It sounds like you're on your way. The broth is more tolerable if you cook carrots and celery in it for flavor. I got real sick of protein shakes but now that I can add fruit, I make one every morning to start my day and I've learned to like? yogurt. Protein, Protein, Protein!! Good luck on your journey.

Joy, how long has it been since you've had your operation?
Currently, I can only have liquids, yogurt, popsicles, protein shakes, and cream soup.
What was your diet after surgery? Also, what kind of exercise did you do?

Congrats on your weighloss so far!!!! I know how hard it is to do before surgery. I lost 51 pounds before surgery. I know for me it just helped me change my mind set of eating. Now 4 months post op I'm down an additional 42 pounds. So close to 100 pounds lost!
You have a much greater amount of weight to lose and it should come off quick for you.
Sip sip and sip those fluids! Good luck and am excited to follow you on your journey!

I had my sleeve 7/20/2017. My doc didn't require me to do the pre-op diet. I was close to the 35 BMI required by insurance. I had a lot of difficulty with acid reflux. I did protein shakes 3x a day (no fruit until it was allowed) I've been lifting weights 3x a week for well over a year so I didn't want to lose muscle mass. My doctor said I could resume lifting when I felt ready, which for me was 3 weeks out. Lightened weights, less reps, reduced # of sets. I started walking 2 miles a day after 1 week. Now as fast as I can walk. And on my weight days,20minutes on the elliptical as well. I got a dog back in February and I take him on that 2 mile walk. He keeps me from sitting on the couch after work. lol
