Default My journey, second time around

    Hi Everyone,
I was banded in 2009 and had it removed in 2014 after it being unsuccessful, vomiting, unable to eat half the time, including water, etc. I just felt miserable. It was a relief to have it out. I didn't intend to have any further surgery, but I love hiking and have decided in the few months that I have loads more to do and am sick of hurting so much all of the time after any physical work. I am still waiting on an appointment for the surgeon as they wanted to see my previous Op reports first. I am hoping to have the sleeve done in February 2018. It will give me time to start getting my stuff sorted and get my head wrapt around the food part of this journey. Can't wait. I would love to hear from other people that have had their bands out for some time prior to sleeving.

There are quite a few band to sleeve revisions on here. While they seem to lose a bit slower, they all seem to find great success with the sleeve. Good luck on your journey!

    Hi Aydensmomma

I have read your story and think that you have done a great job. I am now 52 and find that I hurt most of the time. I do a lot of physical work (not that that helps my weight) and at times I need to take medication just to ease the pain. I wasn't always big, but I had a major trauma in my early 20's that I just didn't cope with (in truth I hadn't been coping for years). My children were toddlers before I started to gain weight, so I can't blame having babies for my weight. I have always been a walker and absolutely love hiking, but walking just doesn't help me drop the weight. I need high energy exercise like running, so that is what I am hoping to get back to as I start to lose weight. It's great to see your detailed weight chart. I am starting at the same weight that you began at 116kg (255lb) and while I would love to get down to 60kg (132lb), I will be thrilled to get to 70kg (154lb). I now have an appointment with a surgeon on the 19th Oct 2017. If I'm not happy with him I will go back and see the surgeon that removed my band 4yrs ago. It would be easier to have it done with the first guy as he is local, but I need to be confident and I already have reservations after talking the nurse at his office. I'll let my gut make the decision I think. How are you going with maintaining at 130lbs.
