    Default Liquid Diet

I am on day 6 of 10 of my liquid diet, surgery is Friday.
So far things are going okay, I have not cheated, day three and the weekend have been the most difficult so far. I have been trying to stay busy, taking care of some heavy lifting tasks that I won't be able to to do for awhile after surgery. Picked up the basement, moved some things down to it.
I am so sick of Premier chocolate protein shakes at this point, the Quest peanut butter protein shakes have been a life saver for something different.
I am acutally looking forward to going to work tomorrow because I am not around food like I at home. Right now my son is sitting here eating an apple and an apple has never looked better!

Here's to sticking to it. Have a good weekend all!

I'm sure many of us firmly recall the seemingly unending horror that was the pre-op diet. If you think you're sick of protein shakes now... just wait until post-op when you have 0 hunger drive but getting protein in is essential. You're basicaly forcing yourself to down protein shakes without having any desire to eat. SORRY HAD TO SAY IT LOL. I believe in telling it like it is - not fluffing up the reality.

Personally, I got to the point about 2 weeks post-op where literally anything sweet flavored (yogurt, protein shakes, SF pudding, etc) actually made me sick to my stomach just tasting it. I was done to the point of crying LOL and questioning why I had made this journey.

It will get better. The first month is harsh, yo. But it'll get better, I promise. Make sure you have a firm support structure in place around you; friends, family, co-workers, etc. who have an empathetic ear and shoulder. Mantra: It will get easier.

That's just cruel of your husband.

I normally do the cooking in our house but my wife has been awesome and taking that on recently. I did have to make dinner on my third day, that was tough!

I've lost 12 pounds so far in six days, its kind of crazy.

How did your surgery go? How long did you have to stay in the hospital?

Hi Joe. Surgery went fine. My anxiety was high the morning of, I shared that with the med team and they gave me something to calm me. I was awake when they rolled me to OR but a few breaths of the mask and I don't remember a thing. Woke up in recovery hurting which I expressed and was quickly given meds and back to sleep again. Woke up in my room and received routine meds for pain, nausea, acid reflux. Narcotic pain med was not good for me as it made me dry heave. So I stuck with routine Tylenol. Start taking sips and short walks as soon as you can. I didn't "want to" but did it. I stayed 1 night in hospital then home. I'm still sore. Tired. Thirsty. But doing this thang! U got this!

10 days sucks, I only had 5. But I've always been jealous of the people who didn't have a pre-op diet, just couldn't eat after midnight before surgery.

Keep you eyes on the prize, This is all so worth it!
