    Default first time here

hi, just found this forum and hope to gain some insite into the journey ahead. i don't have a surgery date yet as i am still going through the process. there have been very positive claims to the surgery, but as an 'older' client, i have some concerns. forums like this one should be informative on a more personal level. every person is different and i hope to gain helpful advice. thanks, m

hi, thanks for the welcome. one question i have is did you start a 'diet' during the months prior to the surgery?? or just the liquid diet 2 wks out. i say i am dedicated to the process but for some reason i want to eat all my favorites now...lol!! they say you won't feel deprived because hormones will change. what experience have you had. i know the broth and soft foods will become the main source for several weeks along with protein drinks. i think once i get into the education part of the more. one of my main concerns is 'sagging skin'...although i feel like the pillsbury dough boy now...so what's the difference!?!?! about 100 lbs i'd say....and just hope for the best. diet and exercise and water, water, water!!! thanks for any advice. i am not a debby downer, but i am quite anxious. marion

I'm 3.5 months post op. I changed my way of eating the day I meet with my nutritionist in october. I recorded everything I ate and was required to lose 10 before surgery. I lost 51 pounds on my own before surgery. Since then I am down another 42 pounds. Oh so close to that 100 pound mark!
You need to make a lifestyle change. Thinking of it as a diet, at least for me I knew I wouldn't stick to it. I mean clearly it didn't work for me before to keep the weight off.
I'm at the point right now I'm still not craving anything and making sure i get my protien in first. I don't really have room for anything else after my protien! Hopes this helps.

I had to be careful during my pre op months because in order for my insurance to approve me I could not drop under a 40 BMI since my only comorbidity was high blood pressure (which was controlled with meds).

wow!!! the weighloss before the surgery was quite an accomplishment...ch sure, i've yo-yo'ed all my life, and that is not satisfying no matter how much you lose just to gain in back...many times over. so, congrats on doing the do....not dieting, but making a lifestyle change. so many of us are afraid of change. plus, knowing that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about our choice to get healthier, it's our choice. like someone told me, '' do you pay my bills?'' could be the perfect comeback to naysayers....lol!!! anyway, congrats to you and thanks again!
