Default Let's talk Protein... How do you get your protein in? What is your favorites? ...

I'm feeling like many people on the site may be feeling and need some help... if you are not hungry, it is hard to plan your meals and get in the protein you need to maintain muscle and lose weight in a more healthy way. I have had one quick visit with a NUT and will get my paperwork together this evening.

Question to the group.... What is your favorite proteins? How do you get your proteins in each day? ..

Besides Premiere Protein. Which I still have never had a problem getting down, I like the Quest BBQ chips 21 grams of protein. Different flavors of Quest Bars. My favorite is the Blueberry Muffin. I like how it is loaded with Fiber too. I stay on track having these on hand. I don't even have to eat the whole thing. It's just good to have and grab. Cheese sticks are low in calories and 8 grams of protein. The on the go P3 Protein packs. Cake bites are a good option too.
Different egg recipes. Pasta made from mozzarella cheese. Love all of the protein options we have! Edamame has 18 grams of protein per cooked cup!

This may sound strange to some but I love yogurt mixed with cottage cheese. I grew up around aunts who made jello salads of every variety. The ones I loved had cottage cheese in them. So my favorite way to get protein in is to have Oikos Triple Zero 15g of protein for one container mixed with 4 oz of 2% cottage cheese 11g of protein. Strawberry is my favorite yogurt flavor. So for about a cup of food it is 26g of protein. I love the taste! I am 10 months out so I can eat almost the whole cup.

Unjury chocolate shake powder mixed with Fa!rlife low fat milk. Thick and rich and a treat in the evening if I didn't happen to get quite enough protein during in the day. It sure beats the giant bowl of ice cream I used to have! Love my sleeve! I am 5 weeks post op. Also, chicken & tuna.

Cottage cheese and the flavored tuna packets. Both are my "go to", still, almost daily.

Meat and high protein milk (Fa!rlife). If I didn't get as much as I should, then I will supplement with a protein shake.

Vital protein makes a collagen powder that mixes into hot liquid immediately so I add 1 or 2 scoops to my coffee. I also use genepro protein added to my morning Greek yogurt. On my way home from work I drink a premier protein or quest chips.

I'm only 5 weeks post-op VSG... mostly I am still on protein shakes (Premier Protein 30g per shake and Atkins Advantage 15g per shake). There was a point about 3 weeks post-op where protein shakes were making me ill and giving me horrendous reflux. That seems to have resolved for the most part, but I am still sick to death of drinking them. I was never a huge sugar eater, and preferred savory items, so sweet things are not appetizing at all.

I am able to consume 1/3 c. cottage cheese, 1 low-fat string cheese, 1 scrambled egg, 1.5 turkey meatballs or turkey sausages, 1/4 c. unseasoned almonds, 1/2 can tuna fish and mayo (I use Kraft Avocado Mayo), Greek yogurt, baked fish, and Wonderslim products all fairly easily so long as I chew my head off. Fish is especially great for protein and is easy on the digestion. Chicken, beef, and pork are all still hard to eat and feel like a brick in my chest. Most days I am getting about 45-60g of protein. I know this will increase and get easier in the months to come.

I am going to order this today (Vital Protein and Genepro Protein)..... I don't know why this has been so hard for me. I appreciate all the suggestions!!!
