    Default 3 pound gain

Ok so I've been in a month long stall and to top it off I actually gained 3 pounds over the last week. How did I gain so much in such a short period of time. I will be honest I induldged in a cup cake one day and some french fries on another but outside of that I have stuck to my low carb high protein routine that I've been doing since my surgery. I'm hoping that this is just a flash in the pan as it has opened my eyes to how quickly my body can rebel against me. I will simply rededicate myself to stayin on track and avoiding the bad foods that possibly led to this happening. I just wanted to vent thanks all for listening.

If I were in your shoes, I'd not worry about it at all.

Because that's what happens when you live in Low Carb World and you cross the border and visit Carb Land. After 218 days of very few carbs, your body doesn't recall how to process carb energy, and your liver has stored your recent carbs as glycogen, along with (I'm assuming) 3 pounds of water. Put another way ... remember the pre-op diet? You just did the anti-pre-op diet.

You've done incredibly well at losing weight. But unless you intend to live low-carb for the rest of your life, at some point you're going to have to introduce healthy carbs. Maybe you want to wait on all that for later -- no problemo. I am one of those who thinks carbs don't hurt us. There are some amazing carbs out there that nourish our bodies, taste amazing, and keep the bad-carb cravings at bay. You could either start to incorporate them now or wait until you reach your goal.

Mostly, what I want to say is, you're doing GREAT! I have no doubt you'll keep doing GREAT! Don't worry, be happy. Keep doing GREAT!

Just a flash in the pan. reintroducing carbs into your diet will take time to integrate properly. It will cause you to slight adjustments. If you don't over do it, it is temporary as your body hangs on to all the carbs in preparation of the next famine. Everything in moderation.

It could be possibly you are eating too little. For me personally, when my weight was stalling it was always when it was time for me to up my calories. When I eat too little I stall or even sometimes would go up a bit. Now I am no longer on low carb. I still limit sugars and processed carbs but don't avoid them. I have not gained and have been able to maintain my weight loss with no issues. I needed the carbs due to all the running I am doing. Good luck.

I wouldn't call 3 pounds a gain.... More like a fluctuation. I wouldn't stress it at all. Stick to your program and it'll go back in the other direction. I routinely fluctuate by 3 pounds based on the day, bathroom routine, workouts, etc.

You are- and have done- a great job! I have been doing that for a while now... I have been hovering at my goal weight by 1 pound, then it may go up one more pound then down a pound the next day. I was holding off on carbs as much as possible, but you know what? I DO NOT WANT TO FEEL LIKE I AM ON A DIET.... and I have been. Now that I do Zumba fitness 4 days a week, I eat that banana and PB2 peanut butter, and I allow myself to eat that piece of Dave's Killer Bread Thin Sliced. With that said, I do avoid sugars and other carbs (pasta, rice, etc..) as much as I can but I will eat a small amount of pasta occasionally (hey, I'm Italian!). I figure I am only 5 months out from surgery and have done pretty good I feel, but I do need SOME carbs to get through my exercise program.

3 lbs can be salt, causing you to retain water. Don't sweat it...ha. Seriously though, focus on your incredible accomplishments. Hang in there, you've been doing really well. Keep it up.
