Hi everyone,
My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I am mentally freaking out and am very concerned about the pain involved.
Pain meds normally make me throw up. How bad is the pain?
Pain wasn't a big deal for me either. I spent one night in the hospital post-op. And must admit I appreciated all the pain meds in there. But I only took pain meds (hydrocodone) twice after I got home.

No pain here either! It was uncomfortable because of gas but nothing to get freaked out over. I just had mine on August 4th and I should have done this years
ago!!! You' ll be ok.. Try to go in with a positive attitude! You CAN do this!! Any discomfort is worth all the benefits of being healthy!
For me as well - gas discomfort that's not horrible and goes away. I had more discomfort from a sore throat from the tube for surgery. By the time the anesthesia wore off, that discomfort was going away.

Besides gas pains (which were quickly relieved with walking) I had no real pain. Discomfort is definitely a better description. Once the IV was removed from my arm, I did not have anymore pain medication. Nothing. Everyone has a different pain threshold, but I wouldn't worry about it.
I was fortunate, not much pain from my surgery. Worst for me was the gas right after but they get you up and walking around to get it moving out of your system. If like me right out of surgery they will have you hopped up on some pretty good meds. I never took the pain syrup when I got home. I took GASX strips quite a bit the first week or so to help minimize other gas. Make sure you walk alot, drink the required fluids (sip sip sip) and use the lung thing (forget the name) that they send you home with.
Best of luck to you. I am 6 months out now and NO REGRETS! Love my sleeve.
Regards,
Tommy
For me the only major pain was when they woke me up after surgery. Ouch. But after that the pain was very minimal. I ended up tossing most of my liquid pain meds years later when I found it in the back of the cupboard. The tiny incisions were nothing. For about the first day my shoulder hurt as I guess that's where the gas settled. There was a little internal pain early on getting into bed, moving positions, etc, but no big deal. By the end of the first week I was pain free.
