Default Advice for taking a cruise :)

So my hubby and I will be taking a cruise next September 2018. I will be roughly 9 months post op by that time. Wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to try and hide the fact that I won't be able to eat that much. We will be dining together at times. We will be with family that won't know about my surgery.

im sure that by then you will have lost a lot of weight. so they will see the difference in you anyways . so if you dont want them all up in your koolaide, then when they ask you just let them know that you have made a change in your lifestyle and you have been working so hard to get rid of all of your weight. and if they cant except that tell them to kiss where the sun dont shine..... ok ok naw say that last part but it will be the true that you have changed your life for the better. so stand tall ( at your 5'1) and except all those congrats and good feelings of your achievement!!!

At 9 months you will be able to eat more so it won't be as noticeable but like Martini said...tell them that you have worked hard to lose weight and portion control is a big part of it. I have been at lots of family gatherings post sleeve and have been able to play it off. To include Thanksgiving just 3 1/2 weeks post op. There was a lot of making my plate look full and putting shit on my hubby's plate to hide it. And then dumping it when no one was paying attention. It'll be fine!!

no one knows i've had surgery. I think it's not as hard as you think for people to not notice what you're eating. I even was at a party 3 days post op at a bar. i had the bartender fake giving me a vodka when it was water with lime lol you do what you have to do. We are going to an all inclusive in mexico on Saturday. I'll be 7 months post op. I think it'll be fine.

By the time you go, you'll have lost significant weight. people will notice that (now whether they say anything is another story). But they may think you're eating less because youre dieting.

Thank you everyone! Good advice. Christie 13 The part about putting food on hubby's plate made me laugh. I would totally do that! My hubby is 6'5, and he eats a lot, so no one would even think twice lol

yeah, everyone wants to sit next to me at a party as I cannot resist taking the food, but then can't eat it, so they get to finish my portion for me!

Don't worry about it! And, HAVE FUN! You've earned it!

By then you will have dropped a lot of weight, and you can just say you're working hard on portion control. It will just look like you are doing what you have been doing!

    Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

I just came back from a Disney cruise and I am 3 months post op! I just ordered what I wanted (lean protein and whatever plain veggie they had). The wait staff pressured me to order more but by the third night I just told them I had stomach surgery and could only eat small portions! I skipped their breakfast and brought my protein shakes. I ended up losing 2# that week! I exercised and got my steps in each day.

You have to get your mind in gear... "I don't need food to make me happy on this cruise...being with my family and relaxing at the pool and exploring beautiful places and seeing great shows make me happy!"

And I never talked about it (food). As Nike says "just do it"!!!

    You can do it
