    Default Stagnant and Getting Frustrated

I had my surgery April 6, 2017 and have lost 56 pounds as of today. I saw someone on here that lost a whopping 90 pounds in 6.5 months. I thought I was doing what I was suppose to do. Does anyone else use the KIND bars as a meal replacement? Even after 4 months going on 5 months, I do not have a real appetite. I started line dancing as well as go to the gym 2x a week. I try to get at least 6000 steps in a day, although I don't always reach my goal. Any advice to help me along.

Those that have lost a significant amount of weight, how long did it take you?

The KIND bars aren't worth a sleeved person's time since they have only 6 grams of protein. I stick to protein bars that have a minimum of 20 grams of protein.

Rate of weight loss is dictated by your starting weight on the day of surgery. To be blunt, someone who weighs in the high 100s or low 200s isn't usually going to drop 90 pounds in 6 months.

Also, certain people are fast losers such as men, the super mordibly-obese, younger women, and healthy obese people without metabolic disease.

Slower losers are usually older women, racial/ethnic minorities, menopausal women, 'lightweights' in the high 100s to low 200s, and people with metabolic disease such as diabetes, hypothyroidism and PCOS.

It took me 17+ months to lose 100 pounds. You can look at the signature block below my post to see my starting weight, as well as my monthly losses.

By the way, you are a substantially faster loser than I ever was. You are 4 months out and lost 56 pounds. I had lost a whopping 40 pounds by 4 months out. When is the last time you lost an average of 14 pounds monthly at any other time in your life? Probably never.

    Good luck to you.

I agree with Rehab Nurse that the meal replacement bars are not optimal for us sleevers. Your focus should be protein and then veggies at this point in the game. And to get moving. Also, there are times when we need to up our calories to continue to lose weight. I don't think that losing 56 lbs in 4 1/2 months is anything to be discouraged about.

Welcome Boaza, walk your own journey. Not everyone is the same. Just keep going as best you can.

That said, I can say, if you want more loss more quickly then go to the gym more frequently. Lift more weights and build more muscle. Muscle burns more calories than the equal weight in fat. That will lead to even more weight loss down the line.

What food do you eat on a typical day? Try to eat real protein instead of the bars (eggs, turkey, chicken, tuna, etc). I started walking the day after surgery and haven't looked back.

Congratulations Mary! I am encouraged. Thank you. I realize after the responses that I received, that I was not eating enough of the right proteins. I will definitely heed all of the advice.

Protein intake has to come first, then add other stuff. A energy / protein bar with only 6 grams of protein is not going to help you much.

I eat Pure Protein bars as a snack (especially after a workout). Most of the bars have 20 grams protein per bar and are around 200 calories. I really like them and find them quite tasty.

    http://www.pureprotein.com/products/...es=bars-snacks

I work out. Daily, sometimes twice a day. I run everyday, most days in the 4 - 5 mile range. I now know that I am / was a stress eater. If I'm stressed I look for food. I now burn stress through exercise. Find something you can do for exercise that you enjoy and do it daily. Also, I can't say it enough, push your limits (from an exercise perspective) if you can. You may discover how much you like something that you could have never imagined doing in your old body.

Work out, stick to the food plan that works for you (Your Nut and Dr should be helping you) and you will continue to lose weight. Everyone loses at a different rate, comparing yourself to someone else is just crazy.

Good luck and keep fighting the good fight!
