Using a straw

Was anyone else told not to use a straw when they drink? I'm sorry if this question was already asked. I know part of the concern with straws is drinking too fast correct? I find I drink slower with a straw. I tend to gulp without one. What are some other's experiences.

In was told not to use a straw because it causes you to suck air into your small tummy. I started using straws after 6 months or so.

Belle's correct. I also started using a straw around 5-6 mos. Best of luck to you and hope your surgery goes well.

My surgeon/nut said we could use straws if desired. It is in my paperwork. My paperwork did say not to gulp because of increased air. I used straws with no issue. I also gulp more when I don't use a straw.

I was also told not to use a straw because of the air it introduces into your stomach. But, I don't have trouble sipping and don't use straws much anyway.
