Default I don't want to jinx it but......

my constipation if FINALLY getting better at 9 1/2 months. I am no longer taking stool softeners twice a day and I am getting almost regular. I only occasionally have to use a suppository. I was starting to wonder if I was ever going to be able to go again normally. Finally light at the end of the tunnel....so to speak.

Thanks Tamera! I am hoping it continues and is not a fluke. Constipation was my one true complication/side affect. You are doing great!! 114 lbs already and almost 100 of those in the post op. That is a lot!!! You can totally do this. So far maintenance has been good but I am still in that honeymoon phase. I have a good solid plan, though so I am not worried.

Do a lot of people struggle with constipation after this surgery? I already take stool softeners, my IBS causes a lot of constipation. TMI, I know.

It can be for some people. Although I have seen people put on here that their IBS symptoms have gotten better post sleeve. I always have had wonky bowels but post sleeve I was definitely blocked. I had to take stool softeners and every few days use part of an enema to help me out.

I had always taken magnesium supplements at night before bed to be regular the next morning. I was regular most of my life, but my doctor suggested this about 6 years ago and I have always done it.

After surgery, the pills were just too dang big to swallow and cutting them up and swallowing them was a chore because my stomach would fill up too much with water and I felt sick, because I take 3 pills nightly (and crushing them was HORRIBLE, so I didn't do that.) After a few weeks post op, I began swallowing them and around 2 months out I FINALLY got back to normal. Constipation was a side effect I knew could happen-- and boy it sure did.
