First time poster

Hi

My name is Jennifer I am 38 years old. At this point I am waiting to meet with my surgeon which should be in a few months. I am ver nervous and would love to hear positive and negatives about the surgery. If it be somthing you do if you knew how it would be. I also fine that I get very sick with whey protein, the vegan doesn't seem bad it's pretty gritty and wondering if anyone has found somthing less gritty.

Hi Jennifer I have had my sleeve since the 7th June 2017. I felt worried and anxious when i waa in your boots. All I wanted to say was... don't worry there are plenty of people on this site that have been on the same journey. Think of the positive outcomes you want to have from this surgery and how you're going to feel when you get there. I waited 3 yrs for my Sleeve. I have lower back disk problems, right foot and neck pain. I am hoping that on this road to a new life this will change my health so I can begin living. Are you buying pre-made or making your own protein shakes? If pre-made, try the powders and make your own with unsweetened almond milk. I seemed to do better making my own. Pre-made was way to sweet. If you want to sample, just write emails to the manufacturers to send you samples. Most will and this way you can find one that works for you.

If you want to sample different protein shakes there are vitamin shoppes like GNC (I don't know if they have that where you live) that I have heard will let you sample some there in store.

The Best one I have found is V-Core it has 3 types of protein and taste amazing! We are hooked on the cookies and cream and we add a scoop of peanut butter for an extra kick. I had my surgery in March and I am down 99 pounds. As far as negatives I can no longer eat beef. I am almost 6 months out and can eat about 3 oz of food. I feel amazing off all my meds and run about 4 miles every day. You are going to do Great!

Roger, try the better cuts of beef. Like filet mignon, I can tolerate that so much better after surgery than "regular" cuts of meat. It may work for you.

Thank you for all the replies. I been looking for a forum for awhile , really feel it is going to help talk to people who have are going through what I am. I am making my own shakes I am really sensitive to taste I wish I was one of those people who loved protein shakes lol. We do have a GNC here I got a few samples of the vega one I think it's called. Had the berry but it was to strong so I got the no flavour now trying to find a flavour to mix that works for me. I loved the whey protein drink like the grape but after a few days I couldn't drink or eat anything. I had to do a week trial full fluid diet.

That is a GREAT idea. I am supposed to get in (2) premier shake in each day and barely get in one (too sweet).

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeee too!!!!!!! I had my sleeve surgery on July 3rd and have almost lost 40 pounds since my highest weight. I feel so good and just hopeful for the future and my on-going weight-loss journey.

I'm always trying to find ways to add protein to my diet, so I started using the Premier Protein Shakes as my coffee creamer. It works great for me and now I just smile and think, "Wow, my coffee is really a protein coffee"!
